Falling Plate League

The Kitsap Falling Plate League is a Head-to-Head modified round robin competition.  You shoot at 5 steel plates along side another competitor who is trying to knock down their 5 plates before you do!  $5 per entry. (What a deal!)

The match consists of Head to Head random pairings of shooters. Each contestant will shoot twice in each of the 5 rounds of competition.

Once we have completed the 5 rounds we go to the Finals.

Each time a shooter wins a round, they get their number on the board. If the shooter has won all 5 rounds, they will have 5 numbers in the finals. Each shooter will shoot with a randomly selected opponent until the last shooter with a number is left. This shooter is the winner of the match.

We offer a Stock Class and a Draw Class. Shooters can enter in each categories or enter twice in one category.

We load six rounds (this evens the playing field for revolvers) to start. Reloading if necessary is allowed to knock down the five targets.

Standard range commands will instruct the shooters to "Load and Make Ready".  The next command is more in the form of a request and will be "Shooters Ready?"  If there is no indication of a problem, that will be followed with "Stand by!"  After a second or two, then a buzzer will sound to start the string of fire.

After the shooting has subsided, the shooters will be instructed to unload and show that their firearm is clear to the RO at the line. The shooter will then be instructed to point the muzzle down range and pull the trigger to verify the firearm is clear. The shooter will then be told to holster or bag the firearm.

This is a Center Fire caliber match.

No optics.

Approximate round count for each entry is 150.

Our Falling Plate league begins every Tuesday by taking over the primary pistol range at 5:30pm for set-up and registration followed by a safety briefing and the competition beginning at 6pm.

Come on out and join the fun!  See you at the range,

Rob and Reba Potter - Match Directors

Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen, and welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, and a beautiful Summer's evening for another plate match.  The skies were Blue, the temperature was in the 70s at gametime, and the evening was perfect for a plate match.  Our Match Staff perpetuated the perfect evening with the match run on time, and Safely.  The field owes a debt of gratitude to our Match Directors Rob & Rebecca Potter, our Line Marshalls Rob Potter and Mark Wuesthoff, our scorekeeper and dealer of the duels, Rebecca Potter,  as well as our Match Roustabout, EJ Corich and his hot-rod tractor.  So let's take a look at the results of all this organization and efficiency.

In the Draw Class, The match ended for this reporter, Hal Hansen, at the hands of EJ Corich.  Exit Hal, our 3rd place Draw Class Finisher.  EJ next dueled with Rob, but Rob was a bit faster this time.  Duel to Rob.  So Rob Potter wins the Draw Class, with EJ Corich finishing 2nd.

In the Stock Class, 25 Entries came down to 3Rob Potter, Lee Lewis and Rebecca PotterLee Lewis ended Reba's Stock Class bid, leaving Rebecca to finish 3rd in the Stock Class.  That left Lee and Rob to duel for the class win. Rob had 2 numbers on the board at this point, to Lee Lewis' 1Rob put Lee on the trailer in the next duel, so Rob and his predatory NightHawk wins the Stock Class, leading Lee's NightHawk to the trailer to join Reba and her NightHawk.

Now, since Rob Potter won the Stock Class, and Rob Potter won the Draw Class, it would be safe to assume that tonight's
TOP GUN is Rob Potter.  Well done Rob.  I guess this means you get to take all the NightHawks out for thier evening feeding right after the match.

Well, now we're caught up to date for another week, and looking forward to next week's match to be held right here at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club next Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM.  We'll see you all right here then, and we'll see what it takes to put a bunch of NightHawks on their roost a bit earlier in the evening.  Practice a lot, because NightHawks just love a challenge.

"SHOOT FAST!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!!"

Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen, and welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, on a perfect summer evening.
The blue sky with a few puffy white clouds, along with a temperature of 72degrees, means it's another perfect summer evening for a plate match.  We wish to thank the match staff, in the personages of our Match Directors Rob & Rebecca Potter, Our Head Line Marshall Rob Potter, our Scorekeeper and DJ, Reba Potter, and our stage Roustabout, EJ Corich for another great event.  It was run smoothly, it was run on time, and all the equipment worked properly.
We wish, additionally, to thank our Match Director and Regional Representative for NightHawk Custom Guns, Rob Potter, for bringing NightHawks new model of 1911 out for all of us to shoot.  The gun is a Talon Model, this particular example of the genre was chambered in .40SW, and it is a HI-Cap.  It had great night sights, a smooth 31/2# trigger, and it felt like something John Browning would have come up with, had he had the opportunity.  Thanks Rob, for letting us play with your new model NightHawk.
Another feature of our match tonight that's worthy of note, was a new high attendance of the Ladies.  We had 6 Lady Guns signed up, with 4 different ladies attending.  Now, the fact of four ladies in the match is not news, but these ladies came to play!
2 of them signed up twice for double the shooting, and that gave us 6 Ladies Guns entered, and that's either a new high, or very close to it.  Tawnya, Lori & Reba are veteran Ladies Class Competitors, and we had a new lady come out to play tonight, Ana.
Ana, When you come back, I'll get your last name and email address for the roster.  Until then, it was great to have you shooting plates tonight, and we hope you had a great time.

In the Ladies Class tonight, Rebecca Potter came out on top, with Lori & Tawnya finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the Stock Class tonight, we had a great entry of 31 guns.  At the end of the evening it had come down to 3:  Jeremy Weintraub, Rebecca Potter & Phillip Grauer.  Jeremy Weintraub put Phillip Grauer on the trailer, and advanced to a showdown with Rebecca Potter.  Going into the duel, Jeremy had 3 numbers on the board, to Reba's 1.  Reba picked this duel to have the one run all night when she couldn't have hit the ground if she had dropped her gun.  Duel and Stock Class win to Jeremy Weintraub.  2nd Place Stock and 1st Ladies Class finish, Rebecca Potter.  3rd Place in the Stock Class to Phillip Grauer.

In the Draw Class, we started off with 6 guns entered, and by the end of the evening it was down to 3:  Rob Potter, Jeremy Weintraub and EJ Corich.  Jeremy put EJ on the trailer, and advanced to a duel with Rob Potter for the class win.  In this duel, Jeremy started with but one number, to Rob's 3, and by the end of the duel, Rob still had his 3 numbers, but Jeremy was in residence on the trailer, right next to EJ.  Draw Class win to Rob Potter.  And now it's on to TOP GUN!!

From the Stock Class, Jeremy Weintraub advances to the Top Gun Final.  From the Draw Class, the representative is Rob Potter.  Rob & Jeremy decide to go for "All Of'em!!" and at the *TONE*, they do.  From the Draw position, Jeremy & Rob draw and engage the 25yd plates, and they fall.  Then their attentions switch to the 10yd plates, and they fall.  As the thunder ebbs,
the dust settles, and the poppers are viewed, Jeremy Weintraub's popper lies flat to the ground, and Rob's lies atop Jeremys.
As has been stated before, a plate match is no place to end up on top, and the duel, the match and the TOP GUN title for tonight goes to Jeremy Weintraub.  Congratulations Jeremy, excellent shootng and well done.

Folks, we'll meet back here next week, same time and place, and let's see if tonight's HotShots can do it again.  We all know what we need to do to give them more of a challenge: practice properly, and a lot.  Remember the priorities:  Job #1 is Safety.
Then the concentration is on Accuracy.  Only then does one need to concern themselves with Speed!!  So practice a lot and practice well.  And in the end, always remember:

"IT'S ALL ABOUT SIGHT PICTURE AND TRIGGER SQUEEZE.  THE REST IS JUST THERE TO CONFUSE YOU!!"

Good evening sports fans, and welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Welcome to Summer, close on the heels of the July 4th weekend.  Tonight is the kind of night that the citizens of Western Washngton think about as they enjoy the rain and cold so much of the rest of the year.  The sky was clear and blue, not a cloud anywhere to break up the skyscape, with temperatures right at 80 degrees.  This reporter has often said he wouldn't be happy until mirage flows off the plates.  It wasn't quite that hot tonight, but it was headed in that direction.  Thinking about it, I believe I'll be totally happy with the temps right where they were tonight.  HELLO SUMMER!!

41 Guns showed up tonight to help celebrate this great weather, and it's good to know that the crowd came out to shoot even when they could have been at home sprawled out on the lawn, or enjoying  BBQ.  Now, this is dedication.  There is a good reason, besides simply having great fun, to come out to a plate match.  The venue of a Falling Plate Match is an opportunity to get training in shooting, as well as to experiment with one's secondary ordnance too often ignored in one's gunsafe.  The stage(s) at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club provide virtually unlimited variety, and the courses of fire are limited only the imagination of the shooters.  Folks, let me tell you true, our shooters have vivid and expansive imaginations.  Lately, it doesn't seem to be enough to just have to knock down a few plates.  Now, it is often specified at the start of a duel which particular plates, and in what order they are to be engaged.  The challenges are met extemporaneously, with the challenge being to apply the proper fundamentals of shooting to solve the problems initiated by the challenge of one's opponent.

Our match was enriched by the presence of no fewer than 5 Ladies tonight.  In addition to our veteran plate shooters; Reba, Tawnya, Debbie & Lori, we had a new shooter and a new plate match competitor tonight, Sara Luchi.  Welcome Sara, sure hope you had fun and will return to shoot our match regularly.  At the end of the evening, Rebecca Potter took the honors in the Ladies Class, followed by Lori Burt in 2nd place, and Tawnya Weintraub in 3rd place.  Well done ladies.

In the Stock Class, our field started out with 30 guns entered.  By the end of the match it came down to but 3; Rob Potter, Phillip Grauer and Nathan Bailey.  Phillip Grauer put paid to Nathan's bid tonight, leaving Phillip and Rob Potter competing for the Stock Class title.  Let's take a look at this duel.  Our Line Marshall calls the action.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *Tone*, Phillip & Rob engage All Of'em!!  The 25yd plates fall, and the 10yd plates fall.  All, that is, except one of Phillips.  I expect Phillip was watching the action at the 10yd plate rack, as the plates fell one by one.  Well, we know, if one watches the plates, they quit falling!  One of Phillips did indeed not fall, and Rob Potter, while properly watching his sights, snuck past Phillip and dropped all his plates and his popper as Phillip was madly spraying and praying, with the standard results.  Duel to Rob Potter.  And the Stock Class Victory to Rob Potter,  2nd Stock to Phillip Grauer, and 3rd Stock to Nathan Bailey.

In the Draw Class, 9 Entries came down to just 3;  Rebecca Potter, James Austin, and Jeremy Weintraub.  Rebecca was having a pretty good night.  Rebecca has a deceptively devastating style of shooting.  Just at a glance it may seem there are faster, more stylish, even more accurate shooters coming to the line.  Well, bring'em on.  Rebecca has one ability that carries her through duels against, arguably, better shooters:  Concentration.  Rebecca has the ability to focus on the problem, and bear down when necessary to emerge the winner in some very unlikely duels.  In tonight's Draw Class, the end came for Jeremy Weintraub in a duel with James Austin.
Allow me to digress to an earlier point.  As mentioned earlier in this missive, one feature of Kitsap's plate match is the venue allowing familiarization with ordnance normally ignored in competition.  Tonight James used a Springfield ESP Carry pistol.  The gun was so small and compact that it virtually disappeared in James' hands.  Under no circumstances could it be considered a competition pistol, but rather only a "Concealled Carry" Pistol.  Well, James blew that paradigm out of the water.  With a pistol that had about a 3in barrel, and a 1911 style body that looked like it had gotten wet and shrunk, James was laying waste to the plates as is his habit with his Smith & Wesson Revolver.  I daresay James will be quite comfortable carrying his ESP in the very near future.
This time though, Rebecca's concentration and attention to the proper fundamentals of shooting overcame James' "toy" 1911,
and she took James apart in 3 straight duels to win tonight's Draw Class.  And now, it's on to TOP GUN!!

From the Stock Class, we have Rob Potter.  From the Draw Class, also shooting a NightHawk Custom Pistol we have Rebecca Potter.  Rob & Rebecca are once more making Kitsap's plate matches a family business.  You folks know the drill, and it hasn't changed.  Shooters, load & make ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  From the Draw position, Rob & Reba await the
*TONE*!!  When it comes, Rob & Reba Draw, and engage All Of'em!!  The 25yd plates all fell smoothly, the 10yd plates all fell, and quickly!  Rob and Reba switch their attentions to the poppers, and by the thinnest of margins, with the overlapping poppers necessary to announce the winner, Rob Potter's Popper is laying flat to the scorched earth, and our TOP GUN WINNER TONIGHT, by the very thinnest of margins, is Husband, Rob Potter.  Rob, that was a very very close duel.

So that's tonight's match folks.  Thanks to everyone who came out, and thanks especially for the safe conduct of the match, and the great challenges of shooting the contest.  Next week is another event right here at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Practice hard, and practice well.  Remember the priorities of your fundamentals:  Safety, accuracy, and then speed.  Remember our axiom:

"SPEED IS FINE, BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!!!"

23 Entered in Stock Class - Class won by EJ Corich

         3rd Stock - Charles Bailey

5 Entered in Draw Class - Class won by James Austin

        2nd Draw - Jeremy Weintraub

        3rd Draw - Mark Wuesthoff

Good evening Plate Shooters, and welcome to another plate match at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  28 guns entered the fray tonight, and only one emerged at the top of the standings after a night of fast & furious competition.
Many thanks to our match staff tonight.  The stage was, as usual, all set up and ready to take shooters, on time, thanks to EJ Corich and his hot-rod tractor.  EJ does almost as well driving that rig as he does shooting, and that's saying something.
Thanks to our Match Director, Rob Potter, acting solo tonight in Rebecca's absence.
Rob doubled his duty tonight, as usual, by running the firing line.  As if all that wasn't enough, he shot his NightHawk with some success, and oversaw the proceedings. Thanks Rob.
Talk about a busy person, James Austin took Rebecca's place at the scoretable tonight, calling the duels, running the scoreboard, and shooting his SW Model 1911 well enough to emerge TOP GUN.  What did you do in your spare time, James?

To recap the highlights of tonight's match, let's look at the Draw Class first.  There were only 5 guns entered in the Draw Class tonight,  and in the end the duels came down to James Austin and Jeremy Weintraub.  Each had one number on the board, and in a fast, accurate duel, James Austin emerged victorious.  Jeremy Weintraub was 2nd,  and Mark Wuesthoff finished 3rd.

In the Stock Class, an entry of 23 guns finally ended up with 3 top finishers;  Charles Bailey, Justin Whitworth, and EJ Corich.  Justin put Charles on the trailer, leaving only EJ in the path of his Class Victory.  Let's see what the gallery saw in this duel.
From the low gun position, EJ & Jeremy are loaded and ready, they are standing by,  and we have *TONE*  Thunder Rolls, we all hear the clatter of falling plates, and when silence returns to the range, and the dust settles, EJ Corich takes the duel and adviances to the TOP GUN Finals.

From the Draw Class, James Austin is our finalist, and he will face, from the Stock Class,  EJ Corich.  They are going to engage ALL OF'EM!  Rob Potter calls the action.
Shooters, Load & Make Ready!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  James & EJ are standing by, hands raised in the surrender position.  We hear the *TONE*, James & EJ draw, engage the 25 yd plates, and they all fall.  Next they engage the 10yd plates and they fall.  Very quickly indeed,  they engage and drop their poppers!.  After silence returns, and the clatter of plates subsides, and finally after the dust settles, James Austin's popper lies tight to the ground, wth EJ's laying on top.  It has been said in the past, and it's still true: a falling plate match is one place where it's not productive to come out on top.  Duel to James Austin, Match to James Austin, and another in a series of TOP GUN titles to James.  To add to his challenges,  James wasn't even shooting his revolver tonight.  Well, no one ever said that shooting a SW Model 1911 was a handicap.

     So that's it for tonight's match, folks.  We'll see you right here next Tuesday evening at 6:00PM and we'll do it again.  Practice hard.  The quality of the shooting around here is quite challenging indeed.  Never forget that safety is priority number 1.  Accuracy is next, and finally speed.  Put the package together, and let's give the usual suspects a bit more of a challenge.  Remember;

"IT'S ALL ABOUT SIGHT PICTURE AND TRIGGER CONTROL.  THE REST IS JUST THERE TO CONFUSE YOU!"

37 Guns Entered Tonight - TOP GUN  --  JAMES AUSTIN

5 Ladies Competing Tonight - Class won by Dawn Wilcox
     2nd Lady - Rebecca Potter
     3rd Lady - Tawnya Weintraub

29 Guns Competing in the Stock Class - Class won by Rob Potter
     2nd Stock - Jeremy Weintraub
     3rd Stock - Dawn Wilcox

8 Guns Competing in the Draw Class - Class won by James Austin
     2nd Draw - Rob Potter
     3rd Draw - Mark Wuesthoff

Good evening ladies & gentlemen.  Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, and another Tuesday evening plate match.
37 Guns signed up tonight under scattered clouds and patches of blue sky.  The temps were warm, it was shirtsleeve weather and the dry, warm air held a lot of promise for the summer to come.
Another milestone was set tonight, as 5 ladies came out to play with their handguns.  By the end of the evening a new name appeared in the winner's circle.  Dawn Wilcox survived challenges by Rebecca, Tawnya, Ashley & Jamie to take the Ladies Class Honors.  Ya know, Dawn.  This game is seriously addicting.  The smart play now would be to adjust your schedule with an eye to being here regularly, and challenging ALL the shooters each week.  If you keep improving as quickly as you already have, you are going to be GOOD!
In the Stock Class, 29 challengers eventually became but 3.  Dawn Wilcox, Jeremy Weintraub & Rob Potter contested for the class title, and advancement to Top Gun.  Jeremy made it into the final 3 by outrunning Rebecca Potter.  As usual, Rebecca had had a great night, but Jeremy put her on the wagon with a clean, quick string.  Exit Reba.  Rob Potter got into the finals, getting by Mark Wuesthoff.  That was not a bad trick tonight, as Mark had some blisteringly fast runs during the evening.
He let Rob get by him at the end however, and Rob advanced to the finals.  The third member of the trio became our Ladies Class winner tonight, Dawn Wilcox.  So, we have Dawn Wilcox, Jeremy Weintraub & Rob Potter contesting for the class win.
The final finals began with Jeremy dueling with Dawn.  Our Line Marshall, Matt Seagraves calls the action.  The shooters are loaded and ready, they are standing by, and we have *TONE*  Dawn & Jeremy acquire their targets, we have the rattle of fallng plates, the dust settles, silence returns to the range, and Jeremy Weintraub's popper lies tight to the ground.  Dawn, getting beat by Jeremy is a problem experienced by almost all the Stock Class shooters tonight.  Try again next week.  Exit Dawn, our
Ladies Class Winner tonight.  So for the class win, it's between Jeremy & Rob.  and tonight, in this duel, Rob Potter takes the win.  Exit Jeremy, our 2nd place Stock Class finisher.  Rob Potter advances to TOP GUN.

In the Draw Class, the final 3 were Mark Wuesthoff, James Austin & Rob Potter.  Rob drew Mark to start the beginning of the end, and while Mark had had some amazing runs during the evening, on this run Rob got there first, exit Mark, our 3rd Place
Draw Class finisher tonight.  So now it has come down to James Austin vs.  Rob Potter.  Pay attention, you'll see this material again.
Rob's NightHawk and James' Smith & Wesson drew at the *TONE*, engaging all of the plates, and when quiet returned to the range, James Austin's popper lay on the bottom, a sure sign of a winner in the Draw Class.  Rob Potter will settle for 2nd Draw.  Rob and his NightHawk will be out for blood next week.  For tonight however, it's on to TOP GUN.
From the Stock Class it's James Austin, shooting his Smith & Wesson Revolver hailing from Springfield, Massachusetts.
From the Draw Class, shooting his NightHawk Custom 1911 hailing from Berryville, Arkansas comes Rob Potter.  Once again we have a battle looming between a Yankee gun from Massachusetts and a Rebel gun from the deep south in Arkansas.  Will these two forces never learn?  The stage is set, James Austin, decked out in his Yankee Blues & Rob Potter, decked out in his CONFEDERATE GREYS come to the line, looking steeley eyed & aggressive.  Their cannons are loaded,  Mathew's sword is in the air,  the North & the South are ready, and the bugles sound!!  James & Rob first go for the 25yd plates, and they fall.  Then they switch to the 10yd plates, and they fall with a clatter.  Finally the poppers are engaged, we hear the clank of steel, the dust settles, silence returns to the battlefield, and in this battle James Austin's popper lies supine beneath Rob's.  This battle goes to the North.  James Austin, with his Yankee Revolver are tonight's TOP GUN VICTORS.  2ND PLACE for tonight is Rob Potter and the 1911 hailing from Arkansas.
That's it for tonight's battle folks.  The North has won this battle, but I can hear sabres rattling already, and the cries of the vanquished loudly proclaiming that "THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN",  possibly as soon as next Tuesday evening, right here at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  What a battle it will be.  Practice well troopers, formation will be right here next Tuesday evening, at the pistol range building, at 6PM.  Keep you powder dry, keep your muskets clean, practice well, and always remember:

"SHOOT FAST!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!! BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, SHOOT SAFELY!!"

NIGHT OF THE HAWK

  TOP GUN  -  ROB POTTER

Ladies Class Winner - Rebecca Potter - NightHawk
2nd Lady - Patricia (Patty) Murray - NightHawk

Stock Class Winner - Rob Potter - NightHawk
           2nd Stock - Lee Lewis - NightHawk
3rd Stock - Nathan Lively - Lively Custom

Draw Class Winner - Rebecca Potter - NightHawk
           2nd Draw - Rob Potter - NightHawk
           3rd Draw - EJ Corich - ?

Good evening folks, and welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Many thanks to Kitsap R&P Club for hosting our match tonight. Thanks to Rob & Rebecca Potter for running the match, to Rebecca for running the Scoretable, and to EJ Corich for running the tractor setting up & taking down the racks.
We have a special welcome tonight to a young lady who drove all the way from Aberdeen, WA. to shoot our match.
The field eventually came down to 5 names we're accustomed to seeing this time of the evening.  Leon Potter, Rebecca Potter, Nathan Lively, Rob Potter & Lee Lewis.  Of the final 5, at least 4 are shooting NightHawks.  Nathan, apologies, but I don't know what you are shooting.  What I do know is that, whatever it is, you are doing a great job with it.
The final finals start with a duel between Leon & Rebecca Potter.  Father-In-Law vs. Daughter-in-Law, and in this duel, Father- In-Law Leon is taking no prisoners, kin or not.  Duel to Leon.  Nathan Lively steps up now to duel with Leon, and having seen that Leon is having a good night, pulls out all the stops and gets to the finish line before Leon.  Duel to Nathan.  At this point,
the duel is between a couple of NightHawks, whose shooters are Lee Lewis & Rob Potter.  The Birds of Prey circle, then dive,
and only one hungry bird of prey will eat this meal.  On this duel it's Rob Potter's bird of prey that snatches victory from defeat. Duel to Rob Potter.
The next duel is between Lee & Leon, again the birds circle lazily in the heavens, hunting for game, and having spotted their prey, they dive, attack, and this time Lee Lewis' NightHawk grabs the prize and escapes unscathed..  Duel to Lee.  Rob & Nathan come to the line next, Rob's NightHawk licking it's beak in preparation for another meal, and Nathan Lively's mystery gun is the meal on this run.  Duel to Rob Potter.  Lee Lewis & Leon Potter send their birds of prey skyward this time, the birds circle, spot their prey and dive!  Lee's NightHawk arrives first this tme, sending Leon's Raptor home for the evening.
Exit Leon, duel to Lee.
Folks, this contest of Falconry is drawing to a climax.  Of the 3 fnalists, Nathan Lively, Rob Potter and Lee Lewis, two have hungry birds of prey, both eyeing Nathan's entry hungrily.  Rob draws the duel with Nathan, he releases his NightHawk,
it circles and attacks, and in a close duel ends Nathan's efforts for the evening.  Duel to Rob, exit Nathan.  Now it's down to it, folks.  The battle of Raptors, birds of prey both already up and circling.  Lee & Rob's Birds of Prey are circling, they spot their prey, dive and attack.  As the thunder rolls, feathers fly, and Rob Potter's NightHawk picks a thermal and drifts off, another victory in it's talons.  The winner of the Stock Class tonight is Rob Potter.
In the Draw Class, there are 3 finalists:  EJ Corich, Rob Potter, and Rebecca Potter.  Rob Potter does his part to make it a Night of Hawks, and in a fast, smooth duel puts paid! to EJ Corich's evening.  Now it's down to just 2 NightHawks, wife Rebecca's in 9mm, against husband Rob's in .45ACP.  The battle will be between big & slow, vs. Light & fast.  Shooters to the line.  Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand by!!  In the 1st duel,  Light & fast gets there first.  Ladys First!!
Again the birds of prey are released, they climb high, circle, spot their prey, dive and Attack!!  Again Light & fast beats big & slow.  Big & Slow has only 1 Number Left.  And AGAIN!!
The NightHawks have their hoods removed, and they are released to climb toward the heavens.  As they attain hunting altitude they begin circling.  As they spot their prey, they DIVE & ATTACK!!  The Thunder Rolls, Feathers fly, Rebecca's NightHawk
clutches the victory in it's talons, and as Rob's NightHawk tumbles to earth in a pile of feathers, Rebecca Potter's 9mm NightHawk soars off into the clouds, clutching tonight's Draw Class Victory in it's Talons.   Both birds again climb to engagement altitude and drift on a thermal towards the TOP GUN duel.
Now we come to the climax of the evening.  This is one duel for all the marbles.  This duel tonight starts with a draw from the holster, and will decide tonight's Champion.  From the Stock Class, our shooter is Rob Potter.  From the Draw Class, our shooter is Rebecca Potter.  Rob & Rebecca are up to the line.  They are Loaded & ready!  At the *TONE* they draw, engage All Of'em!!  The 25yd Plates all fall.  The 10yd plates all fall!!  In a clatter of steel, the Poppers fall. and tonight Rob Potter's Popper falls first with Rebecca's falling a close 2nd.
Duel to Rob Potter.  The title of TOP GUN TO ROB POTTER, and an outstanding night of shooting to both of you.  Congratulations to our finalists, congratulations to our class winners, and congratulations to all our competitors tonight for an evening of exciting, fast and most importantly SAFE shooting.  We'll see you back right here next Tuesday,
June 15, 2010 at 6:00PM for another exciting match.  Practice hard.  We have a whole flock of hungry Hawks in our midst.
Our work is cut out for us.  And when you are practicing always remember:

"SHOOT FAST!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!!"

TOP GUN
 - Rob Potter

Ladies    Class won by Rebecca Potter
22 Stock      Class won by Rob Potter
6 Draw      Class won by Rob Potter

Good evening ladies & gentlemen, and welcome to June.  In a couple of weeks it'll be summer, and if it quits raining, the weather will be excellent for our plate matches.  It's excellent anyway.  We're indoors in a warm, well lit range building, we have an excellent match staff to do the work, and all we have to do is shoot safely.  We do owe our match staff a constant stream of thanks for their efforts.  Rob & Rebecca Potter do a great job hosting and running the match.  Our set-up guys, with EJ Corich running the tractor,  have the stage set up for us on time, every time, and to top it off, our Line Marshalls keep the match running smoothly and safely.

And let's not forget to thank our host, Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, for inviting us to use their facilities each and every week.  Thanks Marcus Carter and Thanks Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.

Let's take a look at the action and the results tonight.......

In the Ladies Class, Rebecca Potter & Tawnya Weintraub were the only two shooting, but we had a lady, Brooke Steele who came to watch tonight.  We all hope she will bring a handgun and participate next week.  A young man escortng her, Greg Kjerstad, took 3rd place in the Draw Class tonight, so let's hope he will be a good influence on Brooke, and encourage her to join the ranks of the shooters next week. This week, Rebecca Potter took the honors in the Ladies Class, and once again she and her husband Rob, both shooting NightHawks, made this week's competition their family business.

In the Draw Class, 6 guns were entered, and by the end of the evening it came down to three..  Tonight, it came down to Rob Potter, Rebecca Potter, & Greg Kjerstad.
The Draw Class finals started off with a duel between our new guy, Greg Kjerstad, and Rob Potter.  Rob took that duel, and watched as his wife Rebecca stepped to the line.  Rob had 3 numbers, and Rebecca had 1, and after a fast exciting duel, Rob Potter took the Draw Class honors tonight.  Rebecca Potter - 2nd Draw, & Greg Kjerstad took 3rd Draw.  Greg, that's not a bad first effort for the Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club Plate Matches.  Congratulatons.

In the Stock Class, an entry of 22 guns dwindled to but 3 at the end of the evening.  Rob Potter, Loren DeShon & Lee Lewis were still contending for the Stock Gun Class, and the finals started with a duel between Lee Lewis & Loren DeShon.  You all know the drill.
Lee & Loren went for all of'em, and in this duel all of Lee's steel fell first.  Next it was Lee & Rob in a battle of NightHawks.  There are becoming quite a lot of predatory birds coming to soar and fight at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  In this particular duel between the descendents of Raptors, Rob Potter's Avion arrived at the finish line first, sending Lee Lewis' NightHawk home to roost for the week.  Finally, it came down to a duel between Loren DeShon & Rob Potter for the Stock Class victory.  Loren & Rob are loaded & ready.  They are standing by, and *TONE*!!  As is becoming the tradition in Plate Match Finals, the shooters both are going for All Of'em!!  The 25yd plates fall, the 10yd plates fall, and in a hail of bullets & Thunder, the Overlapping Poppers Fall.  Tonight, in this string of fire, in this match, Rob Potter's Popper is lying tight to the ground,   Rob Potter
is our Stock Class winner tonight.  Loren DeShon takes 2nd Stock & Lee Lewis takes
3rd Stock.

As we review the winners of the Stock Gun Class, & the Draw Class, both of whom are
Rob Potter, one can certainly see that it's not going to take long to decide who our
Top Gun winner is tonight.  What can one say to Rob Potter but Congratulations.

We'll see you all here next Tuesday at 6:00pm.  Bring the necessary gear, all the ammo you need, and your pet pistol, Fluffy, and we'll see who is hot and who is not next week.
Until then, practice a lot, practice with the proper fundamentals, and practice diligently.
And always remember,

"SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!!!"

Good evening once again folks, and welcome to another plate match at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Our Match Staff brought us a good one tonight, and we thank them for it.  Thanks to our Match Director Team, Rob & Rebecca Potter. Thanks to our Line Marshalls, our Set Up Crew, and thanks especially to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club for inviting us all and hosting our match.

With the efficiency of our Match Staff, we were able to get in 3 Rounds of shooting, and our "Sudden Death" Finale, even with this large a field.  Way to go, Match Staff.
Let's take a look at the classes, and see who led the pack tonight.

Ladies Class
In the Ladies Class we had 3 Entries.  Rebecca Potter took the class win,  Debbie Kurre finished in 2nd Place, and Tawnya Weintraub took a close, very close, 3rd Place.
Congratulations ladies, for some fine shooting..

In the Stock Class, we had no fewer than 26 Entries.  By the end of the Sudden Death Finale, only 3 were still contending.  The 3 Stock Class Finalists were:  Phillip Grauer,
Justin Whitworth, and Rob Potter.
The action opened with a duel between Phillip and Justin.  For some reason, the reset bar on the 25yd platerack was sticking at this point in the match, so the challenges were
6 & 1, all on the 10yd line.  Phillip & Justin did indeed go for 6 & 1, and as they engaged the plates, all 12 plates hit the deck almost as one, but in the end, Phillip Grauer's popper lay flat on the cold wet ground.  Duel to Phillip.  Now, Phillip & Rob came to the line, loaded, stood ready, and at the *TONE* also engaged 6 & 1.  By now, Phillip was taking no prisoners, and at the end of the duel, again it was Phillip's popper lying tight to the wet grass..  Duel to Phillip, exit Rob, our 3rd place Stock Class finisher.
So, for the class win, it was once again Phillip Grauer dueling with Justin Whitworth.
Phillip had 2 numbers to Justin's 1.  The shooters are to the line, loaded & ready.  They are standing by and *TONE* Phillip & Justin engage 6 & 1, and go through the 12 plates like General Sherman through the city of Atlanta.  It's fast & close, but in the end Phillip Grauer's popper lies on the bottom, and Phillip Grauer wins tonight's Stock Class.  2nd place to Justin Whitworth & 3rd to Rob Potter.

Draw Class

In the Draw Class, 9 Entries came down to 3 Finalists;  Phillip Grauer, James Austin & Rob Potter.  The first of the final finals opens with a duel between Rob Potter & James Austin.  James has had a heck of a night tonight, dominating the duels in which he has participated.  Watching him do reloads during a string of fire is almost comedic.  James drops open the cylinder on his Smith & Wesson Model 627, and the empty cases seem to eject themselves.  Then when James grabs the loaded moon clip, it appears he throws it at the empty cylinder from a foot away, the official calls the shot good, and away he goes.  Fast!  Reloads with that speed and accuracy are called:  Practice!!
So Rob & James come to the line, Load & Make Ready, Holster their firearms,
they're standing by, and *TONE*!!  James & Rob engage the 6 & 1 challenge, the Thunder Rolls, the noise ebbs, the dust settles and James Austin wins the race to the line, this time.  Duel to James Austin & victory in the Draw Class.  Rob Potter gets 2nd Draw, and Phillip Grauer takes 3rd Draw.  And now it's on to TOP GUN!!
From the Stock Class, Phillip Grauer steps to the line.  From the Draw Class, James Austin steps up to duel.  This duel is all or nothing at all.  One run for all the marbles, and it will be 6 & 1.  The duel will commence from the Draw, and our Line Marshall, Rob Potter
calls the action.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  James & Phillip have assumed the "surrender" position.  We have *TONE* James & Phillip engage all 6 plates on the 10yd line racks.  All 12 plates fall, the shooters reload quickly, and the poppers slam!! to the ground.  After the thunder ebbs, and the dust settles, a cheer goes up for our TOP GUN Winner!!  PHILLIP GRAUER, AND HIS GLOCK 17c have turned in a spectacular string, coming out ahead of James by half a length, tops!.  Half a length is good enough tonight, and
PHILLIP GRAUER is tonight's TOP GUN WINNER!!
That's it for tonight folks.  Next week is another opportunity to excell, and in that effort it will be necessary to practice properly and hard.  Remember when you are practicing to get your priorities in line.  Always remember Safety First.  Then remember your fundamentals:

"IT'S ALL ABOUT SIGHT ALIGNMENT & TRIGGER SQUEEZE.  THE REST IS JUST THERE TO CONFUSE YOU."

Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Our Plate Match tonight will celebrate the 30th Anniversay of the Eruption of Mr. St. Helens.  In keeping with the fireworks of the mountain's eruption, the plate match held tonight put on a  fireworks display of it's own.  Thanks to Rob & Rebecca Potter for hosting and running our match tonight.  Thanks to Rebecca Potter for running the scoreboard, running the microphone, and shuffling & dealing the duels.  Thanks also go to the Line Marshalls for running a safe, clean match.  Contrary to the events surrounding the eruption of Mt. St. Helens 30yrs ago, no one got killed or injured in our plate match tonight.

In the Ladies Class tonight, Rebecca Potter took the honors.  Well done, Rebecca.

After a night of competition, it came down to 3 shooters left in the Stock Class & 3 left in the Draw Class.  In the Stock Class, Justin Whitworth, Mathew Seagraves, &
Lee Lewis remained in contention.  In the Draw Class, the 3 remaining shooters were Rob Potter, James Austin & Rebecca Potter.  Let's take a look at the Stock Class first.

In the Stock Class, Mathew & Lee draw a duel, with Mathew getting to the finish line first.  Then it's Justin & EJ at the line, with Justin finishing 1st. Exit EJ.  Mathew comes to the line again, this time against Lee, with Mathew again crossing the line first.  Exit Lee.  Then, for the Stock Class win, it's Justin Whitworth & Mathew Seagraves.  Our line Marshall calls the action.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!  At the *TONE* Justin & Mathew engage All Of'em!  The Thunder Rolls, The plates all rattle & fall, and Justin Whitworth has another Stock Class Win!

In the Draw Class, we start off with James Austin & Rob Potter.  James has 1 number left as they come to the line.  James & Rob are loaded & ready.  They are in the surrender position, they have *TONE*, they draw & engage the racks, and after the thunder ebbs, Rob Potter's popper lies tight to the ground.  Exit James.  Now, Rob stays at the line & Rebecca takes her station.  Rob & Rebecca each have 2 numbers to spend in pursuit of the Class Victory.  In the first duel, Reba spends one of hers in a fast but futile string of fire.  Rob 2,  Rebecca 1.  Again they load & make ready.  Again they assume the surrender position & again they have *TONE*.  they're going for all of'em too.  The Thunder Rolls, The plates Rattle & Fall, and when calm returns, it's Rob's popper lying on the bottom.  Draw Class Victory to Rob Potter.   Now it's on to TOP GUN.....

From the Stock Class, our shooter is Justin Whitworth.  From the Draw Class, it's
Rob Potter.  Rob & Justin come to the line and Load & Make Ready!  The Shooters are Ready, Stand By!!  At the *TONE* Rob & Justin go for All Of'em!!  The Thunder Rolls, The Plates ALL rattle & fall,  The Thunder Ebbs & the dust settles, and a Cheer goes up from the gallery.  In a clean, accurate, and fast duel, Rob Potter has another match victory, and is tonight's TOP GUN!!

That's it for another week folks.  The weather is getting better, the rain showers are getting shorter & lighter, and Summer is closer than one could have imagined a month ago.
We'll meet right here next Tuesday evening at 6:00PM and we'll see if Rob Potter can successfully defend his title.  We all know what we must do.  Practice properly, practice hard and often.  Pay attention to the fundamentals, and do them all next week like you did them this week.  Just Faster!!  Until then, always remember

"SHOOT FAST!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!! BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!

Good evening Ladies & Gents, and welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, and a beautiful evening to shoot plates by the bay.  The action was hot & heavy, with a bunch of close duels decided only by the overlapping poppers.  Rob & Reba have brought us another wild & wooley match, so let's take a look at it, the morning after.

In the Ladies Class, Tawnya Weintraub took the honors.  We welcome to our plate-shooting ranks a new Lady, Patricia Murray.  Patricia introduced herself tonight with a 4th Place Finish, so "Good on Ya" Patricia, and we hope you had fun and will grace our ranks each & every Tuesday evening. Debbie Kurre was back tonight, and shot well enough to take 3rd place, getting edged out by Kirsten Larsen, who took 2nd.  The last Lady Shooter standing was our Ladies Class Winner, Tawnya Weintraub, who got put on the wagon by none other than our TOP GUN, Phillip Grauer.  Ladies, it was great having you all here tonight, and come back each Tuesday Evening and bring your handgunning Lady Friends.

In the Stock Class, after an evening of fast & furious action, it all came down to 3 Players, Lee Lewis, Rob Potter & Phillip Grauer.   Lee Lewis is the first of the final 3 to get put on the trailer.  3rd Place Stock to Lee Lewis.  That leaves Rob Potter & Philler Grauer still contesting for the class win.  Rob & Phillip each have 2 numbers remaining, and they are ready to decide the issue, right now!!  Phillip & Rob come to the line, Load & make ready, they're standing by & we have *TONE*!!  Rob & Phillip engage all of'em!!  The 25yd Plates fall, the 10yd plates all drop out of sight, and when the thunder ebbs, & the dust settles, by the thinest of margins Rob's popper is laying hard by the cold hard ground.  Rob still has his 2 numbers, & Phillip is down to 1.  Let's try this again.
Rob & Phillip are loaded & ready, Rob's NightHawk & Phillips Glock C are in the low gun position, they are ready & we have *TONE*!!  Again the Thunder Rolls, again All Of'em go down in their turn, and when quiet finally returns to the range this time, Phillip's popper is on the bottom, the difference couldn't have been more than 1/2 second.  Thank Kitsap R&P Club's Steel Guy for overlapping poppers.  Folks, Rob & Phillip are even at 1.  One More Time.........
Rob & Phillip are loaded and ready one more time.  This time they decide to keep it simple, simply 5 + 1, a quick clean duel.
Rob & Phillip are Standing By, we have *TONE* and they Go For It!!  The thunder Rolls, the plates, all 10 of'em & the poppers rattle as they fall, quiet returns to the range, the dust settles, and by golly, we have a winner.  By the skin of his teeth, Phillip Grauer edges Rob Potter for the Stock Class win!  Stock Class win to Phillip Grauer, 2nd Stock to Rob Potter.  Phillip, Gaston's "C" Model got a workout tonight.  Congratulations on a fine win.

In the Draw Class, Rob Potter, still recovering from his workout in the Stock Class, has to settle for 3rd place.  In his battle with EJ Corich for the Draw Class honors tonight, EJ is taking no prisoners.  This leaves but 2 shooters contending for the Draw Class title, Jeremy Weintraub & EJ Corich.  EJ & Jeremy both have 1 number, so it's not going to take long to decide the winner of this class.  EJ & Jeremy come to the line, load & make ready, holster their handguns, assume the surrender position, and they are ready!!  We have *TONE*!!  EJ & Jeremy Draw, and engage All OF'EM!!  The 25yd plates fall, all the 10yd plates drop out of sight, and they engage the poppers.  The thunder ebbs, the rattle of steel fades, the dust from the falling poppers dissipates, and we have a winner!!  EJ Corich wins tonight's Draw Class and advances to TOP GUN!!  Draw Class win goes to EJ Corich,  2nd Draw to Jeremy Weintraub.  Uh, Jeremy, your wife won her class.  Just thought I'd remind you.  Make him take you to dinner, Tawnya.

Now we advance to our TOP GUN, winner take all, overall winners Duel.  From the Stock Class, Phillip Grauer
is the representative, and from the Draw Class, EJ Corich is the man.  Phillip & EJ come to the line, load & make ready, they holster their handguns, and from the surrender position, they stand by!!  At the *TONE* they draw, engage All Of'em!!  Thunder Rolls, Plates rattle & fall, dust settles, the thunder fades, and Phillip Grauer's Popper lies tight to the cold, hard ground!!   Phillip Grauer is tonight's TOP GUN VICTOR!!   Congratulations to Phillip Grauer.

So that's it for another week folks.  We'll get together right here again next Tuesday at 6PM and do it all again.  Come one, Come all, and bring your friends, the ones with handguns and a competitive spirit.  Practice hard, practice often and remember when you are practicing; Practice only makes permanent.  Perfect Practice makes Perfect!!  Remember also that it's accuracy that wins the day.  You cannot miss fast enough to win!!  With that in mind always remember:

"SPEED IS FINE, BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL"!!

surrender position, the crowd is tense, and we have *TONE*!!!!  EJ & James Draw & engage the 25yd plates, and they all fall!  They switch to the 6 10yd plates and they all fall. They then turn their attention to the poppers, and they both fall in a clatter of steel.  The Thunder Fades, The Dust settles, once more the crowd draws a collective breath, and the poppers tell their own story!!  His popper hard to the ground, EJ Corich walks away with the victory & the TOP GUN

Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, and another Spring evening in Western Washington.  It's a cool 54 degrees, clear & dry, and in other words, a perfect night to be indoors shooting at plates.

The important stuff first.  Many thanks to Rob & Rebecca Potter for hosting and directing our match tonight.  Many thanks to all who helped set up and take down the stage, and many thanks to Rebecca Potter for running the scoreboard, shuffling & dealing the duels, and calling the duels on the mic.  in addition to the Admin duties, Reba shot her NightHawk in the Stock & Draw Classes well enough to be Top Lady Shooter and 2nd place in the Draw Class. She also ran the safety briefs for new shooters.  What do you do in your spare time,  Rebecca?

In the Ladies Class tonight, we had 3 Entries, Reba, Kirsten Larson & Tawnya Weintraub, and they finished in that order for the evenings competition.

In the Draw Class we had 9 Entries, and at the end of the evening it had come down to Rebecca contesting the class win with her hubby, Rob.  Rob ended the evening with 3 numbers, to Reba's 1.  Rob & Reba are Loaded and ready, and in the surrender position.  At the *TONE* they draw, engage all the plates, and thunder Rolls.  When quiet returns, Rob has leveled All of'em.  Reba still has a few standing, and Rob Potter wins the Draw Class tonight. And on to Stock.

In the Stock Class we had 17 Entries.  By the end of the finals it was down to 3.  Jeremy Weintraub, James Austin and Rob Potter.  James & Jeremy start the beginning of the end with a fast, furious duel in which James Austin gets to the finish line first.  Exit Jeremy Weintraub, 3rd Stock tonight.  Now it's between Rob Potter & James Austin for the class win.  In addition to agreeing to go for All of'em, they agree to do so Weak Handed.  James & Rob are holding their firearms in their weak hands, the left hand in both cases, James with his Smith & Wesson 645 Revolver, & Rob with his NightHawk Enforcer. They are ready, the flag is up, and we have *TONE*!!  To start, they engage the long shots, 3 plates each at 25yds, then 6 plates each at 10 yds, and finally they go for their poppers.  When the noise subsides, and the dust settles, James Austin's popper is laying tight to the cold, wet ground, and James Austin is tonight's Stock Class Winner.  And on to TOP GUN.

Tonight's TOP GUN matchup is a mirror of the Stock Class, again between James Austin & Rob Potter.  Again they agree to go for All Of'em.  This time though, they will engage while using both hands, just like Jeff Cooper would have suggested.  They agree to start from the Draw Position, to engage All Of'em, and James' Smith & Wesson & Rob's NightHawk are ready.  At the *TONE* they draw, engage the 25yd plates, and each drop all three.  Then they engage the 10yd plates, and they all go down for the count.  Almost as one they go for the poppers, there is the thunder, the dust, and the rattle of the steel.  When the thunder ebbs, the dust settles, and the crowd can breath again, Rob Potter's
Popper is laying tight to the ground, and James' popper is laying on top.  Not tonight James.  Rob Potter is tonight's TOP GUN winner, and Congratulations to him.

One additional note of interest tonight.  We have a new target out at 50yds.  We have an IPSC silhouette with a circle cut out about the same exact size as our plates. the silhouette is painted black.  There is indeed a plate mounted in the cutout hole, and it is painted white.
But, it gets better. On the backside of the white plate is mounted a red flag.  When the plate in the middle of the silhouette is hit, the flag pops up, signaling the hit.  Nothing happens if one hits the black silhouette, but the white plate is attached to the red flag.  Talk about a challenge, hitting the white plate in the middle of the black no-shoot silhouette is something of a challenge, to say the least.  When one draws down on the white plate, squeezes the trigger, and the red flag pops up, the shooter knows there is continuity in the heavens.  When one has, or one thinks he has, time during a string of fire against another opponent, the 50yd IPSC No-Shoot Silhouette with the white (please shoot) plate in the middle sure does look mighty inviting.

Ladies & Gentlemen, it's been another great match, and so we retire for another week.  Next Tuesday @ 6PM we'll meet right back here and do it again.  Until then, drive safely,
practice a lot and always remember:

SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, SHOOT SAFELY!!!

Good evening Plate Match Competitors, and welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  It's a 50degree, overcast evening, but we're inside and the heaters are on,
and 31 guns have entered the competition.  Many thanks to our match staff,  Rob & Reba Potter, our Match Directors, - Rob Potter & Mark Wuesthoff, our line Marshalls, and our Scorekeeper, and Dealer of the Duels, Rebecca Potter.
We had 4 Ladies shooting tonight, and by the end of the evening Rebecca Potter won the class.  Debbie Kurre finished 2nd, and Dawn Wilcox finished the evening in 3rd Place.

In the Stock Class we had 23 Guns entered.  The finals came down to EJ Corich vs. Rob Potter, with Rob Potter advancing to TOP GUN.   Leon Potter, Rob's Dad, finished in 3rd Place in the Stock Class.  The Family, Potter, had their NightHawks running like  well oiled machines.  Well, they are well-oiled machines.

In the Draw Class,  we had 8 Guns entered, and it came down to Rob & Rebecca Potter vying for the Class Win. Rob & Rebecca made tonight's Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's Plate Match their Family Business .  Rebecca Potter, in a very fast, accurate, string of fire, beat husband Rob, and advanced to TOP GUN.

In the TOP GUN duel, it's Rob Potter from the Stock Class, vs. Rebecca Potter from the Draw Class.  Our Line Marshall, Mark Wuesthoff, calls the action.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *TONE* Rob & Reba engage the racks.  Feeling pretty sure of himself, his Macho running amok, and a night of successful shooting behind him, Rob goes for all of'em!  Rebecca, being somewhat more conservative, also with a night of success behind her, chooses a safer plan of engaging 4 of the 10yd plates, and her Popper.  Always the gentleman, and having given his delicate flower of a wife, Reba, some slack, and a bit of extra time,  wife Reba runs her 4 10yd plates in about 5 seconds, and pounces on her Popper so hard it was down before it knew it was hit.  After this sting of fire was over, fully half of Rob's plates were still standing, and while he was deciding whether to continue or not, Reba was back at the bench putting away her gear.  String to Reba,  winner of tonight's TOP GUN TITLE
Well Folks, in addition to being a lot of fun, and great training with handguns, this match excells in teaching it's competitors Humility.  Well done Reba.  Now, make Rob take you out to dinner, as penance for losing your duel.

One final note tonight, we had another new feature attraction. Out at 50 yds, we now have a GONG to shoot at.  During any string of fire, if you think you can hit it, and if you have the time, feel free to shoot at the 50yd gong.  You'll know if you miss it by the geyser of dirt flying around behind the gong.  You'll know if you hit it by an audible "Clank".  Just another new feature at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's Plate Matches.

And that, as they say, is that for tonight.  We'll see you right here next Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 6PM.  We'll have the 10 yd plates, the 25yd plates, The Overlapping Poppers, and our 50yd Gong all out and ready for action.  Furthermore, we hope to have
YOU!! right here to help us enjoy them.  See you then.

Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle& Revolver Club Folks, and another great Falling Plate Match.  The weather is typical spring, at 65 degrees, warm enough to be comfortable, and dry enough to portend the coming of Summer. 39 guns signed up to play tonight, so let's see how the results look after the action subsides.

But first, the important stuff.  Thanks to all of our Match Staff.  Thanks to Rob & Rebecca Potter for running & directing the show.  Thanks to Rebecca Potter for running the scoreboard, shuffling & dealing the duels, and calling the action.  Reba, your energy level never fails to amaze all of us thankful Plate Shooters.  THANKS!!  Thanks to our Line Marshalls, Rob Potter & Mark Wuesthoff, who ensured a night of safe and efficient shooting.  Gentlemen, our safety is in your hands, and we appreciate it.

We had 4 Ladies shoot plates tonight.  At the end of the evening, Debbie Kurre was the last Lady standing, followed by Rebecca Potter & Dawn Wilcox.  Tanya Weintraub ended in 4th place with her new CZ handgun, and the difference between the placings was not much.  Ladies, thank you for attending, and we hope to see you and a bunch more ladies like you in the future. Tanya, when you get that CZ Pistol trained, you will have one heck of a piece of machinery working for you.

In the Stock Class, we had 28 entries, and when the dust settled,  Leon Potter advanced to our TOP GUN duel..  Leon was having one heck of a night tonight, and his faithful NightHawk was circling and attacking virtually every opponent in sight.  In the end, it was Leon Potter vs. Dan Kim, and Leon walked away with the Stock Gun Class title tonight.  Leon, not a lot of shooters got by Dan Kim tonight, so well done.

2nd place in Stock went to Dan Kim followed closely by Phillip Graver, our 3rd place Stock Gun Finalist.

In the Draw Class, at the start of the competition we had 11 Entries.  When the dust settled, and the Thunder receded,  it came down to 2, Phillip Graver & Dan Kim.  Our 3rd place finisher in the Draw Class was Mark Wuesthoff.  And on to TOP GUN!!

From the Stock Class, Leon Potter advanced to this TOP GUN duel, and Phillip Graver from the Draw Class.  One run for all the marbles, and it looks like Leon & Phillip  are up to the line and ready. From the Low Ready position, our Line Marshall, Rob Potter  calls the duel.

SHOOTERS, LOAD & MAKE READY!!  SHOOTERS READY?  STAND BY!!  At the *TONE* Leon & Phillip  engage ALL OF'EM!!  The 25 yd Plates fall, all 6 10yd plates fall, and Phillip Graver's popper lies tight to the earth in a hail of bullets, and the peal of thunder!!  Phillip Graver is our TOP GUN titleist tonight.  CONGRATULATIONS Phillip.

Congratulations to all our shooters tonight on a fast, accurate and, most importantly, SAFE!! night of shooting.  We'll do it again next week, so practice hard, and always remember:

"SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY"

Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen. It's another plate match coming to you from Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club. The weather was great tonight, with temperatures in the low 50s, overcast and not a sign of rain in the sky.  We had another great turnout tonight, with 28 shooters entered in the Stock Class, and 10 in the Draw Class.  We had 4 Ladies competing tonight, and the addition of the Ladies Class made the evening even more fun.
Part of the fun of our Plate Matches is enjoying how smoothly they run.  We owe thanks for that to our Match Staff, tonight in the personna of our Match Director, Rebecca Potter.  Reba did a solo act tonight, with her husband and Co-Match Director, Rob Potter out of town on business.  Rebecca directed the match, ran the Scoreboard, and shuffled and dealt the duels as well.
Reba was a busy lady tonight, also shooting her NightHawk well enough to win the Ladies Class.  We thank also the people who ran the line, and acted as line Marshalls for our match tonight.  With the able assistance of our Match Staff, we got in 3 rounds of shooting and a Sudden Death Finale, and still got home in time for dinner.  Thanks folks, one and all.  Lets take a look at the results of all this good management.

In our Ladies Class, we had 4 entries, and at the end of the night Rebecca Potter took the honors.  2nd Lady tonight was Debbie Kurre, and 3rd Lady was Tonya Weintraub.  If all of you Ladies tell your shooting type friends to come play here on Tuesday evenings, soon we'll have a class to rival our Stock & Draw Classes.

     Speaking of our Stock Class, we had a great entry of 28 tonight.  At the end of the evening it came down to 3 competitors;
Lee Lewis, Justin Whitworth, & Phillip Graver.  The finals for the Stock Class started with a duel between Phillip Graver, and Lee Lewis.  From the low ready position, the shooters are loaded and ready, the *Tone* sounds, and we have engagement.  The guns roar, the plates fall, and Lee Lewis' popper hits the deck first.  Duel to Lee. Exit Phillip, 3rd Stock tonight.  So now it's between Justin Whitworth & Lee Lewis for the Stock Class title tonight.  Justin earned his spot in the Stock Class finals tonight, by edging out Jeremy Weintraub in an earlier duel.  So now it's Justin Whitworth & Lee Lewis, our 2 finalists out of 28 Stock Class Entries. Justin & Lee are loaded and ready,  we have *TONE* and they engage the plates solidly.  When the thunder subsides, and the dust settles, it's Justin Whitworth's popper laying flat on the ground, and in a total reversal of this duel for the Stock Class victory from last week, this week it's Justin Whitworth advancing to our TOP GUN duel.

In our Draw Class tonight, we had an entry of 10 guns.  At the end of the night, it all came down to 3;  Jeremy Weintraub,
Phillip Graver, & James Austin.  We start the final 3 with a duel between Phillip Graver & Jeremy weintraub.  The shooters are loaded and ready, their hands are up in the surrender position, and we have *TONE*!  The shooters get a solid grip on their firearms, clear leather, engage and thunder rolls!!  When the dust clears, it's Phillip's popper laying flat on the ground, and Phillip Graver emerges victorious in this duel.  Jeremy Weintraub is 3rd Draw tonight.  Now, for the class win, it's between James Austin & Phillip Graver.  James Austin attained his berth in the Draw Class finals by edging out EJ Corich,  so now it's between James Austin & Phillip Graver.  The shooters are loaded and ready, they are in the surrender position, and we have *TONE*!!  James Austin & Phillip Graver clear leather, engage, the thunder rolls, the plates fall, & I mean all of'em.  When silence returns to the range, James' popper is on the cold, cold ground, and it's James Austin, our Draw Class victor tonight.  2nd Draw goes to Phillip Graver.  And now it's on to TOP GUN.

Our TOP GUN finalist for tonight are:  From the Stock Class, Justin Whitworth.  From the Draw Class, James Austin.  It's one run for all the marbles, and by mutual consent tonight, it will be engaged from the Draw.  Justin & James are loaded and ready, they are in the surrender position, and the *TONE* sounds.  By mutual consent also, this string will entail taking out All Of'em!!  That's 2ea on the 25yd rack, all 6 on the 10yd rack, and of course, when they are all down, then the poppers.  James Austin picks this particular duel to develop a new grip on his Smith & Wesson model 645 Revolver.  James, I'm not just sure that the TOP GUN championship duel is the proper time for research & development.  At least for Justin, the far plates fall, the 6 10yd plates fall, and the Popper falls.  James appears to be still working on the finer points of his experimental grip, and his plates are, in large part, still standing up and staring at him.  James, that grip appears to have potential, primarily from a position standing on your head, but I'm afraid Justin's somewhat more conventional grip handgun proved superior on this run.
Tonight's TOP GUN title goes to Justin Whitworth.  As soon as James Austin finishes knocking down all his plates, our best estimate is Thursday morning, he will have earned 2nd place overall for tonight's match.  Congratulations Justin whitworth,
and congratulations on a fine night of competition everyone.  Ladies, it was good to have you here tonight, and we all hope you will make a habit of attending.

Final Match Notes:

Remember to come out to the Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's Fun Steel Match this Saturday, 4/10/10 at 10AM.  This match will be Kitsap's  STEEL CHALLENGE!!  Bring your steel shooting skills with you, put them on steroids, and imagine yourself with the factory shooters in Piru, California.  Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's Challenge:  LET'S SEE JUST HOW FAST YOU REALLY ARE!!

Until then, practice hard, and always remember:

It's all about sight picture and trigger squeeze. The rest is just there to confuse you.

28 Guns Entered

TOP GUN - Lee Lewis

21 In Stock Class Class won by Lee Lewis

2nd Stock - Justin Whitworth

3rd Stock - Travis Whitworth

7 In Draw Class Class won by Rob Potter

2nd Draw - James Austin

3rd Draw - EJ Corich

Good evening to all you Plate Shooters, & supporters of the 2nd Amendment. It's another typical Western Washington early Spring evening; cool, & overcast, and it's great to be in the range building in front of a couple of heaters, and shooting.

Many thanks to our Match Directors, Rob & Rebecca Potter. A double thanks, as usual, to Rebecca for running the score table, scoreboard, shuffling & dealing the duels, and being our DJ & running the microphone. Rebecca is a busy Lady on Tuesday evenings. Thanks Reba !! Thanks also to those who kept our shooting line moving smoothly tonight. Our Line Marshalls do a great and thankless job, both keeping our matches moving amoothly, and ensuring the safety of us all. Thanks Guys!!

I want to thank EJ Corich as well tonight, and every match night.

EJ drives the tractor that brings and sets up the plate racks, then hustles about during the match helping where he can. After the match, it's back on the tractor to put the plate racks away for another week. Thanks EJ.

Rebecca Potter was our only Lady entrant tonight, and while she shot a good match, she had no female competition. She sure gave the guys all the competition they wanted though.

In the Stock Class, we had 21 guns entered. After an evenings shooting, it came down to Justin Whitworth and Lee Lewis. We went into the final whootoffs with both Lee and Justin having 2 numbers on the board. At the end of the first shootoff, Lee still had 2, but Justin had only 1. Shooters, load & make ready! Shooters Ready? Stand By!!

At the tone, Justin and Lee engaged the plates and shot fast & accurately. When the poppers were both down, it was Lee Lewis' popper on the bottom, victory in the duel & the class to Lee Lewis.

In the Draw Class we had 7 entries tonight, and at the end of the evening it had come down to James Austin & Rob Potter. Shooters, Load & Make Ready! Shooters Ready? Stand by!! At the tone the shooters Draw, aim & fire!! When quiet returns to the range, and the poppers are both down, it's Rob Potters popper lying flat on the ground, so victory in the duel, & the class to Rob Potter. Now, it's on to TOP GUN.

In the Stock Class, the victor was Lee Lewis. In the Draw Class it was Rob Potter. Rob & Lee will contest the TOP GUN Title tonight.

Rob has won the Top Gun Title many times, but Lee hasn't won it yet.

He has several Class victories, but has not yet prevailed for the overall title. Let's see what happens tonight. As you will remember, the Top Gun Title is decided in one duel, from the Stock, low gun, position. Rob & Lee are to the firing line, they are loaded and ready, and the Buzzer sounds!!

Rob & Lee have agreed to go for All Of'em, 4 at 25yds, 6 at 10 yds, and the popper. The targets are engaged, the thunder rolls, the 25yd plates fall, the 10yd plates fall, and the poppers race each other to the ground. When quiet returns to the range, Lee Lewis'

popper lies flat to the ground, and Rob's popper lies on top. Lee Lewis has just won his first TOP GUN Title. Congratulations Lee Lewis.

Lee, the big prize money, free cars, and Hollywood contracts were all last year.

This year, if you can find anyone to listen, you have bragging rights unhindered for an entire week. Enjoy.

OK Folks, that's it for another week. We'll see you right here next week, same time & same station, for another plate match.

Everyone remember also, on April 10, 2010, right here at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, we will have our very own

STEEL CHALLENGE. It'll be exactly like the one in Piru, California, except that it will be expanded to all 8 of the Steel Challenge Stages. Bring your Plate Shooting Skills, put them on Steroids, and see just how fast you really are. As you are practicing for these events, always remember:

SPEED IS FINE, BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!

WE HAD A NEW RECORD HIGH ENTRY IN OUR PLATE MATCH TONIGHT, with  55 GUNS ENTERED.

                                                        TOP GUN - ROB POTTER

INTRODUCING THE LADIES CLASS - From tonight forward, if we have as many as 2 ladies entered in the plate match at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, we have a class.  Tonight's inaugural LADIES CLASS won by Debbie Kurre.

     2nd Ladies - Rebecca Potter

     3rd Ladies - Helen Todhunter

44 In the Stock Class - Class won by Loren DeShon
             2nd Stock - Mark Wuesthoff
              3rd Stock - Justin Whitworth

11 In the Draw Class  - Class won by Rob Potter
             2nd Draw - Debbie Kurre
             3rd Draw Mark Wuesthoff

Good evening, sports fans.  Welcome to another plate match at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Tonight we're celebrating another record entry for our match, with no fewer than 55 guns entered.  Of those 55, 44 were entered in the Stock Class, and 11
were entered in the Draw Class.
Another milestone was achieved tonight, as we had as our guests 2 reporters from the Kitsap County Newspapers.  Jennifer Morris and Jake DeVries team up to write a column for the Kitsap Co. Newspapers called "WHAT'S UP?"  Now the public will know that "What's Up?" on Tuesday evenings at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club is a handgun competition featuring some of the best and safest gun handlers in our area.  It was fortuitous that Jennifer & Jake picked this evening to attend our match, since we had such a great crowd, and such excellent shooting.  Jennifer & Jake, thank you for attending and please spread the word about how much fun can be had shooting at falling plates, and what a crop of skillful and safe shooters attend Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's Matches each Tuesday evening.
Jennifer & Jake, and the entire field of shooters certainly had a beautiful evening for a handgun match.  The sky was mostly clear, with only a light scattering of clouds, and the temperature was a balmy 59degrees at gametime.  It was a beautiful evening for a match, and portends a beautiful and warm summer.
Even with such a large field of shooters, our match went smoothly tonight.  Thanks for that can be given to our Match Directors, Rob & Rebecca Potter.  Reba, as usual, pulled triple duty, because in addition to teaming up with Husband Rob to run the show, she also ran the scoreboard, shuffled and dealt the duels, and announced said duels on the microphone.  With such a large field tonight, Reba was a busy girl.  Let's not forget either, that Reba shot her NightHawk tonight, and did it well enough to finish 2nd in our new Ladies Class.
Many thanks also to our Line Marshalls.  Keeping the line running in a smooth, safe fashion is no easy task when the field is as large as it was tonight.  Rob, James, EJ, Mark & Dan, we appreciate your efforts, and your attention to detail.  Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our match and it's success tonight, as well as every other night we shoot at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.
We had 5 Ladies contending for fame and fortune tonight, more than enough to have a legitimate Ladies Class.  Along with Rebecca Potter;  Tonya Weintraub, Helen Todhunter, Michelle Coutu, Debbie Kurre shot and shot very well indeed.  In the Ladies Finals, it came down to Reba Potter, Debbie Kurre, and Helen Todhunter.  Debbie Kurre is a newcomer to our plate matches, but certainly no newcomer to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Debbie is a regular competitor in Kitsap's Fun Steel event, held the 2nd  Saturday of each month, starting at 10am.  Debbie was kind enough to let me in on the fact that at the next Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's Steel Match, to be held April 10, 2010, the match will be a faithful reproduction of the Steel Challenge held each year in Piru, California.  Another name for the Steel Challenge is the World Speed Shooting Championships.  For the last couple of years, there has been a "local" addition to Piru, California's match held in Eastern Washington.  Well folks, on April 10, 2010, at 10:00AM, right here at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, you can find out, over the course of 8 Stages, just how fast you really are.  Thank you Debbie, for the heads-up.
Debbie Kurre shot her initial falling plate match tonight, & well enough to win the inaugural Ladie Class.  Rebecca Potter finish 2nd, and Helen Todhunter finished 3rd.  Well done Ladies, we hope you all can make it each and every week.  Show us guys how the Ladies do it in Bremerton.
In the Draw Class, 11 entries boiled down to 3 to start the finals.  It was Debbie Kurre, Rob Potter & Mark Wuesthoff left to vie for the class victory.  To start the festivities, Debbie Kurre dueled with James Austin, and emerged victorious.  Debbie, that's no easy feat.  Next it was EJ Corich dueling with Mark Wuesthoff, with this duel going to Mark.  Exit EJ.  Rob Potter stepped up to the line next, in a duel with Mark Wuesthoff.  Rob put paid tp Mark's bid for a Draw Class victory, squeaking by in a close, fast duel.  Rob next dueled with Debbie, and emerged ahead at the wire by a nose, or maybe by a muzzle.  Draw Class victory tonight to Rob Potter.
In the Stock Class, we started out with 44 guns.  At the end of the evening it was down to the final 3, with the finalists being:
Justin Whitworth, Mark Wuesthoff, and Loren DeShon.  Toward the end of the Stock finals, Reba Potter dueled with Justin Whitworth, with Justin getting there first.  Exit Reba.  Loren DeShon then dueled with Mark Wuesthoff, and Mark won that one.  Mark then dueled with Justin, emerging ahead at the end, for a victory in that duel.  So it was Loren DeShon & Mark Wuesthoff dueling for the Class victory.  Both Loren & Mark had 1 number to burn, and in a fast, close, smooth duel Loren DeShon burned Marks 1 remaining number, right to the ground.  Stock Class victory to Loren DeShon.
So it's on to the Match Victory duel, for our TOP GUN title.  This one will be between our Draw Class Victor, Rob Potter, and our Stock Class victor, Loren DeShon.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand by!!  At the *TONE*
Rob & Loren go for ALL OF'EM!!  First it's the 3 25yd plates that fall.  Then it's the first 3 10yd plates that fall, *RELOAD*
the plates are reacquired,  and the last 3 plates drop.  Rob & Loren now put their entire focus on their popper, and in a hail of fire both poppers Fall!!  It was close, smooth and fast, but Rob Potter's popper lies flat to the ground, with Loren's laying on top.  Not tonight, Loren.  TOP GUN Victory to Rob Potter.  Rob, if you can find anyone to listen, you have unrestricted bragging rights for a whole week.  Congratulations.
That's it for another week folks.  Don't forget Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's edition of the Steel Challenge, April 10, 2010 at 10:00am.  Cumulative times for the 8 stages is your score, and if you peruse the Steel Challenge website www.steelchallenge.com you can see where your score stands.  Maybe you can break the magic 80 barrier, and be among the fastest guns in the world.  See you at KRRC on the 10th.
And we'll see each and every one of you here next week for another falling plate match.  Summers coming, the days are lasting longer now, and Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club is a perfect place to spend Tueday evenings and enjoy the weather to the fullest.
See you next week.  In the meantime always remember:

SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!

The More, The Merrier!!

Thanks to Reba for running the Scoreboard, and calling the duels.

Thanks to everyone who took turns as Line Marshalls, and kept the match running smoothly.  As a result of the Match Staff's efficiency, we were able to get in 4 Rounds & A Sudden Death Finale on this cool, windy, rain threatened 40 degree evening.

The plate shooters are all signed in, all the racks are up, AND THEY'RE OFF!!

Match Results

In the Draw Class we had 7 guns entered, and at the end of the evening 3 were still up & running.  Jeremy Weintraub, Rob Potter & James Austin would decide the Draw Class winner, and it started off with a duel between James Austin & Jeremy Weintraub.
James & Jeremy are ready, we have *TONE*, James & Jeremy come from the surrender position, draw & engage the racks, and James Austin just gets there first, exit Jeremy, our 3rd Place Draw Class finalist.  That leaves Rob Potter & James Austin still contesting for the win, and James & Rob come to the line, they load, and they are ready.
At the *TONE* James & Rob go for All of'em, Thunder rolls, the plates rattle & fall, and Rob Potter's Popper hits the deck first.  Draw Class victory to Rob Potter,
2nd Draw to James Austin.

In the Stock Class - It's Loren DeShon, Jeremy Weintraub & Rebecca Potter still standing, and we begin this contest by calling Reba & Loren to the firing line.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand by!!  At the *TONE* Loren & Reba go for All Of'em, and in a hail of gunfire & the rattle of plates, Loren's popper just gets there first, duel to Loren.  Exit Rebecca Potter, our 3rd Place Stock Gun Class Finalist tonight.
Now, for the class victory, Jeremy Weintraub & Loren DeShon Load & Make Ready!!  The shooters are Ready, & Standing By, and at the *TONE* Jeremy & Loren engage All of'Em!!  Again, Thunder Rolls, plate rattle & fall, silence returns to the range, and the gallery cheers as Loren DeShon's popper is resting tight to the ground, with Jeremy's laying on top.  Duel to Loren DeShon, and the Stock Class Victory as well.  2nd Stock placing to Jeremy Weintraub.  Now it's on to the TOP GUN duel.

In the Top Gun Shootoff, one run for all the marbles, it's Rob Potter & Loren DeShon.
Shooters Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *TONE* Rob Potter & Loren DeShon GO FOR ALL OF'EM!!  Again the Thunder Rolls, The 25yd plates fall!  The 10yd plates rattle & Fall, and Rob Potter's Popper hits the deck, followed closely by Loren's.  TOP GUN tonight goes to Rob Potter, & 2nd place in tonight's Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's Plate Match goes to Loren DeShon.
Excellent shooting folks.
We have Daylight Savings Time in effect now, and I hope everyone enjoyed shooting at least most of the match in daylight.  It'll get better, and warmer, as time goes on.  Summers Coming!!  Next week's plate match is coming as well, right here next Tuesday evening at 6PM.  COME ONE, COME ALL!!  We'll see you right here next week.  Until then, always remember:

SPEED IS FINE, BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!

     Welcome back, Sports Fans, to another Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club Plate Match.  Tonight we have All the plates set up;
All 6 on the 25 yd rack, and all 6 on each of the 10yd racks.  Of course the overlapping poppers are up and running to determine close duels.  And we had some close duels tonight, quite a few as a matter of fact, and we appreciate the overlapping poppers acting as judge and jury when calling the winners.  One side effect of all the plates being up, in the challenge to knock down All of'em, unless the shooter is very accurate, said shooter is going to do a lot of magazine or moon clip changes. Variety is the spice of life, and that axiom certainly applies to handgun competition. We never know quite what we will be facing when we show up at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, but we know it will be 1) Challenging and 2) FUN!!
Now, The Important Stuff.  THANKS to our Match Staff.  This reporter has the opportunity to kind of hang out by the Score Table and watch the activity by Rebecca Potter, and we all get to watch all the activity of Rob Potter as he runs the firing line and works with Rebecca to get the show set up.  They have help from a lot of the guys and gals, and folks, because of all the work and attention put forth by the Match Staff and their Helpers, We Have A Great Plate Match Each Week.  THANKS MATCH STAFF, FROM ALL OF US, TO ALL OF YOU!!
At game time tonight, we had lightly overcast skies, and a temperature of 50 degrees.  By the end of the match we had a cold rain, it was a bit breezy, and the temperature had dropped to 37degrees.  Even with the usual 2 heaters going full blast, it still felt cold, and between the cold, wet weather, and the large entry field, we limited our match to 4 Rounds and a Sudden Death Finale.  Take heart everyone, we enjoyed Spring last Sunday, and if history is any teacher, Summer's coming!
Taking a look at the match results tonight, let's start with the Draw Class.  7 Guns Entered the Draw Class tonight, and at the end of the match there were still 3 in contention.  EJ Corich, Jeremy Whitworth, and Rob Potter still vied for the win in Draw, and we start the action with a duel between EJ Corich & Jeremy Whitworth.  EJ & Jeremy are loaded and ready, holstered and their arms are in the surrender position.  We have range commands, and *TONE* EJ & Jeremy Draw! Aim! & Fire!!  Thunder Rolls, Plates Rattle and Jeremy's popper is flat on the ground, with EJs on top.  Duel to Jeremy, and a 3rd Place Draw Class finish to EJ Corich.  Now, for the Draw Class victory duel, it's Jeremy Whitworth & Rob Potter.  Jeremy & Rob are loaded & ready, the *TONE* sounds, the plates rattle & fall and Rob's popper falls first.  Rob Potter takes tonight's Draw Class Victory, with Jeremy Whitworth taking 2nd place and EJ Corich finishing 3rd.  And on to Stock.
We started the evenings festivities with 38 guns entered in the Stock Class.  We had a lot of great shooting, a lot of very close finishes, and a lot of variety in the challenges.  Some started Hot!! then cooled off. Some started cold and warmed up as the night went ON!!  By the end of the night we had 3 Stock Class shooters still in contention:  Mark Wuesthoff, Travis Whitworth, and Loren DeShon.  To start the action, we have a duel between Travis Whitworth & Rob Potter.  From the low ready, the *TONE* sounds, the cannons roar, and Travis Whitworth takes this duel.  Exit Rob Potter.  Now it's Justin Whitworth, & Mark wuesthoff set to go. The *TONE* sounds, and when the smoke clears, Mark Wuesthoff has a win!!  Exit Justin.  So now it's down to Mark Wuesthoff, Loren DeShon, and Travis Whitworth.  Mark & Loren duel, with Loren getting there first, exit mark Wuesthoff, 3rd Draw.  Now it's Loren & Travis having at it, and at the *TONE* the targets are engaged, the plates rattle, and Loren's popper ends up on the bottom, flat to the cold dark earth.  2nd place Stock to Travis Whitworth, and the Stock Class win to Loren DeShon.  And now it's on to TOP GUN!!
After an evening of HOT!! shooting, from a field of 45 Guns, we come down to 1 Run, between Rob Potter & Loren DeShon for all the marbles.  This run will be shot from the Low Ready, and here we GO!!  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *TONE* Rob & Loren GO FOR ALL OF'EM!!  First all of the 25yd plates fall, then one by one, all the 10 yard plates fall, and finally both their attentions are turned to the poppers.  It's Close, but in a hail of Fire!!
Rob Potter and his Carnivorous NightHawk circles, circlesDives, and Attacks!!  TOP GUN goes to Rob Potter tonight,
and out of 45 guns entered, Loren DeShon will settle for 2nd Place Overall!!  Congratulations shooters, whether you were a winner or not, for a fine evening of competition.

Our Match was attended by some new plate shooters tonight.  Welcome to Anna Schroeder, Laura Schmidt, Samantha Paducha, Lindsey Reeves, Michael Paducha, & James Schweitzer.   We welcome you all, and hope you liked what you saw and did tonight.  It's always a pleasure to welcome new shooters, and hope you will all return often to strengthen the competition.
Welcome!!

Folks, we'll see you all right here next Tuesday evening at 6pm.  Bring your friends, and while you are at it, bring some
warm weather & Sunshine.  That's it for tonight from Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  You Plate Shooters know what you have to do.  Practice, Practice, and more Practice.  Dry Fire, Live Fire, Practice technique and concentrate on Fundamentals.
And when you are going through all this regime for success, always remember:

"SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!! BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!"

Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club & our weekly Plates Match.  March is here, and Spring is just around the corner.  Sunday, March 14th brings us Daylight Savings Time and it will be Sunshine and Blue Skies all Summer.  For tonight, it was a bit cool and overcast with a very light misty rain.  The temperature at game time was 52 degrees, and as usual, perfect weather for shooting plates.
Many thanks to our Match Staff tonight.  Rob & Rebecca Potter ran the match, Reba was our scorekeeper & DJ, and Rob Potter ran the line. James Austin acted as
roustabout, filling in on the scoretable and firing line as needed. With this efficiency, we got in 4 full rounds and a Sudden Death Finale.

Match Results:

First, in Draw Class.  We started with 7 guns entered, and ended the evening with 3 guns still contending for the win.  Rebecca Potter, EJ Corich, and James Austin faced off for the Draw Class Honors, and we'll start with a duel between James Austin & Reba Potter.  They elected to go for All of'em, and on this duel Reba had All of'em down while James was still shooting at some. Duel to Reba, and 3rd Draw to James Austin.  That leaves Reba & EJ Corich to duel for the win.  EJ and Reba are ready, and we turn over the action to the Line Marshall.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready.  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *TONE* Reba & EJ Draw and engage All of'em.  EJ is fast, but Reba has her NightHawk diving & attacking.  Tonight it's Rebecca Potter and her 9mm NightHawk emerging victorious.  2nd Draw to EJ Corich, 3rd Draw to James Austin.  And on to Stock....

Jeremy Weintraub is dueling with Justin Whitworth to start off the Stock Class FINALS.  Shot from the low ready, this duel goes to Jeremy.  Rob Potter duels with his Dad, Leon next, and Rob takes this duel, exit Leon.  Phillip Grauer & Lee Lewis are next up, and in a hail of bullets, and a cloud of dust, Phillip sends Lee Lewis to the showers, metaphorically.  Brothers Travis & Justin Whitworth duel now, Justin just arriving first, taking this duel.  Travis doubles back in a duel with Rob, and this duel goes to Rob.
Now it's Phillip to duel with Jeremy, and in this duel, Jeremy prevails, exit Phillip.
Folks, we are getting down to it.  Jeremy & Travis are set to duel, both at the low ready, and both poised, tense and expectant.  The *TONE* sounds, the plates are engaged, Thunder Rolls, and Jeremy Weintraub puts Paid to Travis' evening.  Exit Travis.
The Final 3 are Rob Potter, Jeremy Weintraub, and Justin Whitworth.  Rob & Jeremy start the final finals, at the low ready, loaded and waiting.  At the *TONE* Rob & Jeremy engage the plates, and in a fast, accurate string of fire, Rob Potter emerges the winner of this duel.  Exit Jeremy.  To determine who wins the Stock Class tonight, Rob Potter, with 1 number, and Justin Whitworth with 3 numbers, step to the line.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready.  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the TONE, Justin Whitworth & Rob Potter engage, and in a hail of FIRE have 2 clean and fast strings of fire.  Justin Whitworth just gets to the line first, erasing Rob's 1 number, and taking the Stock Class at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club tonight.  Not bad, winning a class with 26 skilled guns competing.  And now it's on to TOP GUN.

Rebecca Potter, from the Draw Class, and Justin Whitworth from the Stock Class now step to the line to determine the overall winner, our *TOP GUN* tonight.  This duel will be engaged from the Low Ready position, one run for all the marbles.  And we turn over the range to our Line Marshall, James Austin.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!
Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *TONE* Reba & Justin engage ALL OF'EM!!  Both shooters are fast, both shooters are accurate, and tonight, in this duel, Justin Whitworth just gets to the finish line first, Duel to Justin, TOP GUN Honors to Justin, and a well deserved feeling of pride to Rebecca Potter.  Reba, 31 other guns would love to trade honors with you tonight, and you really worked for the win in the Draw Class, and your 2nd place finish overall in tonight's match.
Now Justin,  all the big prize money,  all the fast and expensive prize automobiles, and the Hollywood Action Hero Contracts were last year.  This year you get exclusive bragging rights to anyone you can get to listen, for an entire week.  Congratulations!!

Folks, that's the action tonight, March 2, 2010, and we will expect to see each and every one of you right here at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club next Tuesday at 6PM.  You may have noticed, the quality of the shooting is improving each week, and the competition is heating up just like the weather.  Another thing you may have noticed tonight is that if it gets any warmer, we won't need the heaters.  Spring is on the way, and not a moment too soon.  See you next week, and practice hard this week.  When you do practice this week, always remember:

SHOOT FAST !!  SHOOT ACCURATELY !!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY !!!!

And a GIANT *THANK YOU*  To You All

Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club for our last Feb. 2010 Plate Match.  March will be here next week, and Spring is not far behind.  Summer is coming, as are shorts and T-Shirts.  Many thanks to our Match Staff who have toiled long and hard during this relatively mild winter, and we are going to see the results of your perseverance when the sun comes out and warms up the shooters as only the quality of competition has done before.  Due to the diligence and efficiency of our Match Staff tonight, we had 4 rounds of shooting and a Sudden Death Finale.  Let's review the action a bit and see who did the winning.

Let's look at the Draw Class first.  We had 7 entries in the Draw Class, and at the end of the match the 3 that were still contending included Rebecca Potter, James Austin and this reporter, Hal Hansen.  In the first duel to get the Draw finals sorted out, James Austin dueled with Hal Hansen, and James arrived at the finish line decisively ahead of Hal.  Then it was Rebecca Potter and her NightHawk dueling with James Austin and his S&W Model 625.  Rebecca had been on a tear all evening, and entered the fray with 3 numbers to James' 1.  Shooters, load and Make Ready!!  Shooters ready?  Stand by!!  At the
*Tone*, the shooters snatch their handguns out of their holsters, engage the targets, and The Thunder Rolls.  When the thunder ebbs, and the dust settles, Reba's popper is laying tight to the ground with James' on top.  Duel to Rebecca Potter, and also the Draw Class WIN!!    And on to Stock.

We had 24 guns entered in Stock Class this evening, and at the end of 4 rounds, the contending shooters were Phillip Grauer, Rob Potter and Lee Lewis.  The first of the final duels was between Rob Potter & Lee Lewis.  The shooters are loaded and ready, the flag is up, and *Tone*.  We have a pair of NightHawks dueling in this matchup, and tonight, in this duel, Rob Potter knocks 'em all down first, and takes the win.  Then up to the line to challenge Rob, it's Phillip Grauer.  Phillip is a fairly new shooter, and has been showing the entire field how it's done all evening.  Rob & Phillip are loaded and ready, their guns are at the low ready, and *Tone*!!  Now, this was a fast duel, and an accurate one.  Phillip's popper gets to the ground just a hair before Rob's.  Phillip had 2 numbers, Rob had 1, and
Phillip Grauer takes the Stock Class tonight.  And now it's time to decide tonight's Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's TOP GUN title winner.
For February 23, 2010 the finalists are:  In the Draw Class, it's Rebecca Potter.
In the Stock Class it's Phillip Grauer.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!! Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *Tone* Reba & Phillip engage the plates, 4 & 1, The Thunder Rolls, The Plates Rattle, and we have a winner!!  Phillip Grauer just gets by Reba for the win, and takes the TOP GUN Title tonight.  Congratulations Phillip!!
And Congratulations to all the shooters tonight for a great job.
It should be noted that as well as having excellent competition, our plate match at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club in just plain FUN!!  We are blessed to have a great match staff, and excellent competitors who all display good sportsmanship every week.  As we all know, handgun competition is, at our level anyway, an amateur sport, and 10th Place pays the same as 1st Place, which is a large measure of pride, fun and self-satisfaction.
The challenges of shooting against other competitors of varying abilities, and shooting at plates at different ranges, and in different sequences, make for a magnificent training ground.  Most of our shooters make the most of it too.  Shooting Kitsap Rifle & Revolver
Club's Plate Matches each Tuesday evening at 6:00pm will make anyone a better shooter, and be a gateway to an entire menu of diversified handgun competitions.  We had a lot of handgun veterans here tonight, and we had some new shooters just getting their initial exposure to shooting.  Welcome everyone and we hope you liked what you saw and did tonight.  We'll see you all right here each and every Tuesday, All year around, and we'll all be better shooters for the experience.  See you all next week.  In the meantime, and ALL THE TIME, Remember:

"SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!"

46 Guns Entered - A Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club Record Entry

TOP GUN - JAMES AUSTIN

38 In Stock Class          Class won by _James Austin

2nd Stock - Mark Wuesthoff

3rd Stock Travis Whitworth

8 in Draw Class     Class won by James Austin

2nd Draw - Rebecca Potter

3rd Draw - EJ Corich

Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club folks.  This Tuesday evening found the temperature at 46degrees at gametime, with a light drizzle.  The skies were heavily overcast and it looked like real rain.  By the end of the match, the temperature had dropped to the very low 40s, the sky had cleared, and stars were out for the drive home. The heaters sure felt good tonight in the range building, but by the end of the match the shooters blood was heated up and cold wasn't a problem.

Many thanks to our Match Staff tonight.  Thanks to Rebecca Potter for running the show.  Rob Potter was home sick, and Reba did an excellent job taking over his part of the program.  As always though, She had plenty of help.  EJ Corich, Mark Wuesthoff and Lee Lewis ran the line tonight, and it seemed that every time something needed to be done, people were virtually standing in line to lend a hand.  Well done folks, now that's the way to make a match run smoothly.
With everyone pitching in to help as necessary, even with our record entry list of 46 guns, we got in 4 rounds of shooting and a Sudden Death Finale.  Among our entries tonight were several new folks, among whom were some ladies giving the plates a try, and some more watching and plotting for the future.  Welcome Ladies, we hope you make our Tuesday evening plate matches a habit.  In addition to the Ladies, we had a bunch of new guys giving the plates a try, and we welcome you all and hope you liked what you saw.

We had 8 shooters entered in the Draw Class, and by the end of the evening the number was winnowed down to 3;  Reba Potter, James Austin and EJ Corich.  Reba & EJ were the first of the final 3 to duel, and Reba managed to get by EJ for the win.  EJ was left with 3rd Draw, not a bad finish in this crowd.  Now, for the Class win, Reba & James Austin came to the line. James had 2 numbers, to Reba's 1, and the battle was joined.
Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand by!!  At the *Tone*
they drew, fired and when the roar of the guns, and the rattle of the plates settled, James Austin had arrived at the finish line just ahead of Rebecca.  Class victory to James, 2nd Draw to Reba, and 3rd Draw to EJ. And on to Stock........

A record 38 Stock guns contested the win tonight.  By the end of the evening we were down to 3 vvery familiar names.  Travis Whitworth, Mark Wuesthoff and James Austin were still contesting the win, and the first of the last duels was between Travis Whitworth,
and Mark Wuesthoff.  You folks know the range commands, and at the *Tone*. Travis & Mark engaged the racks.  Most all the shooters at this point in the contest were engaging and attempting to level all of them; 2 @ 25yds, 5 @ 10yds, and their Popper at 10yds.
Mark had 2 numbers, Travis had 1, and they went for it!!  Both shooters were fast, and accurate, but this run went to Mark.  Travis, you're going to have to settle for 3rd Stock.
Out of 38 entries, I'll bet you can live with that.
Now it was between James Austin with 1 number,  and Mark Wuesthoff with 2.  At the *Tone* James & Mark engage first the long range plates, then the shorter range plates and then the poppers.  James just gets there first to even up the score at 1 number apiece.  Let's try this again now that the score is even.  The shooters are ready and *Tone*.  Mark & James go long, and plates fall.  Then it's the closer plates, and they fall.  Finally their attention is on their poppers, and James slams!! his popper into the dirt first, for the win.
James, this is just your night!!  Class win to James Austin, 2nd Stock to Mark Wuesthoff, and 3rd Stock to Travis Whitworth.  And now it's on to TOP GUN!!
You folks may have noticed that James Austin has won both the Draw Class, and the Stock Class.  His Smith & Wesson Model 645 ran fast, smooth and deadly accurate tonight.  Now, with James coming in 1st in Draw, 1st in Stock, James Austin has the game beat tonight.  James Austin is Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's TOP GUN.
Congratulations James, and congratulations on excellent shooting to the entire field.
We'll see you all right here next Tuesday @ 6PM for another game, and in the meantime always remember:

SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!"

It's February in the Pacific N.W. and it was a bit cold, overcast, dark just a bit later than in january, and dry for our match tonight.  Basically a great night for a plate match, but then, aren't they all?  We had a large field of entries tonight, and that necessitated shooting only 3 rounds plus our Sudden Death Finale.  Many thanks indeed to all who contributed to the successful running of our match, and welcome to the new people who came for the first time tonight.  We hope you enjoyed it and make it a regular thing.  Welcome.
We started out with 36 guns entered, and after a night of fast, accurate shooting, we were left with 3 remaining in competition in the Stock Class, & 3 in Draw Class.  Let's follow the action a bit now.
The Draw Class was the first to be settled, with Rob Potter, Rebecca Potter, and James Austin contending for the win.  Rob just got by Reba for a win, and then dueled with James Austin.  Load and Make Ready!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *TONE*
James & Rob attacked ALL OF'EM!!  James was fast, but missed a couple, while Rob didn't, so Rob got there first, leaving James Austin with a 3rd Place finish in the Draw Class tonight.  Then, for the class win it was husband, Rob against wife, Rebecca.  Rob had 2 numbers on the board, to Reba's 1.  You folks know the range commands, and at the sound of the *TONE* the duel was on.  Again they agreed to clear'em All, and when they were finished, all of Rob's were down, but not all of Reba's.  Rob Potter took the honors in the Draw Class tonight.
In the Stock Class one of our finalists was one of our New Guys, Chris LeFort.  Chris is by no means new to Plate Shooting, being a refugee from the plate matches at the Bullseye Indoor Range in Tacoma, WA.  Those matches were a long time ago Chris, glad to see you back in action again.  The 2nd & 3rd Place finishers were names we all know:  Lee Lewis and Justin Whitworth.  The Stock Class finals started out with Lee Lewis dueling with Justin Whitworth.  Lee had 2 numbers, to Justin's 1.  Lee & Justin are at the Low Ready, the *TONE* sounds, and a moment later Lee Lewis has a victory, handing Justin 3rd place in the Stock Class.  Chris LeFort then dueled with Lee lewis,  Chris having 2 numbers to Lee's 1.  At the *TONE* Chris & Lee go for All of'em,  and the plates all fall with a clatter. Chris was on a hot streak, dropping his popper first, and another clatter was heard as Lee's popper fell on Chris'.  So tonight in the Stock Class, Chris LeFort wins, not a bad finish for just getting back in the saddle, Chris.  Lee Lewis finished 2nd Stock, & Justin Whitworth finished 3rd.  Good Shooting Guys.  And now it's on to TOP GUN.
Rob Potter & Chris LeFort are contending for our Match Win tonight, and this should be good!  As you know, this duel starts from the Low Ready, 1 duel for all the marbles.
Rob & Chris are ready,  the *TONE* Sounds, the cacophony of gunfire eminates from Rob's NightHawk, and Chris' Glock.  The noise subsides, the dust settles, and we have a winner.  Chris has been having a string of excellent runs tonight, but on this duel his string was interrupted by a couple of plates that just would not!! go down.  Rob's NightHawk descends in a screaming dive, attacks and snatches another TOP GUN VICTORY at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Well done Rob, try it again next week Chris, and good SAFE shooting to all our competitors.  Well Done!!
That's it for tonight plate shooters.  We'll see you right here next week for another attempt at glory, fame, fortune and a week's worth of bragging rights.  Until then remember:

SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!!  BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!

TOP GUN  --

Rob Potter

Stock Class Won by Rob Potter

#2 Stock Gun - EJ Corich

          #3 Stock - Lee Lewis

Draw Class Won by Rob Potter

          #2 Draw - EJ Corich

          #3 Draw - Mark Wuesthoff

Thanks to our Match Staff and all their helpers for bringing us another great plate match.  This reporter was unable to make it tonight, and my entire week is going to be upside because of it.   As General Douglas MacArthur declared upon his departure from rhe Phillipines: "I shall return".  In regards to the short match report, I promise to get really long-winded and wordy next week :)
It appears the usual list of hot guns were in fine form tonight.  Rob Potter apparently hadn't fed his NightHawk recently, and it fed vociferously at Kitsap during this plate match.
EJ Corich gave Rob a run for his money in both the Stock & Draw Classes, as is his habit.  Rob, you are just going to have to sell EJ a NightHawk, and between you, EJ and Lee Lewis, you can all pick on Mark Wuesthoff and his Smith & Eesson Revolver.
Next week we'll have another match, and it'll doubtless be as good as this one.  One note of dismay I heard today:  Marcus Carter, the Operations Mgr. of our Host Club, Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, has been on his back, sick in bed for several days.  Word has it that he is a victim of Western Washington's Flu Bug, and that he is expected to recover soon.  Still, our best wishes to Marcus, and his wife Sharon, for his speedy and complete recovery. Come back healthy & Soon Marcus.  Sharon, tell Marcus not to spend so very much time in the range office so he can get rested up some.
OK folks, we'll see you right here next Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm for another plate match.  Remember in the meantime, and always:

"SHOOT FAST!!  SHOOT ACCURATELY!! BUT MOST OF ALL,
                                   SHOOT SAFELY!!!!

Weather & Temperature: Looked like rain, but none developed.  Low 40s, Thank God for Propane Heaters.

Good evening again, Sports Fans, and welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club and our weekly plate match.  Cool temperatures were about tonight, but despite the dark skies, no rain developed.  All the heaters were on in the range building, and it was quite comfortable.
Thanks to our Match Staff for another great match.  Rob Potter was back from the 2010 Shot Show in Las Vegas, NV. tonight, with glowing reports about the size and quality of the show, and was very pleased with the success he enjoyed as an exhibitor.  Rob & Reba Potter teamed up tonight to bring us another great match.  Welcome back, Rob.
Rob doubled his contribution tonight as our Line Marshall, with help from Mark Wuesthoff, and many others who, seeing the need, stepped in when necessary to clear guns, run the buzzer, and generally keep the show moving surely and swiftly.
Rebecca Potter again ran the mic & the scoreboard, called the duels, shuffled the numbers, and shot her NightHawk effectively as always.  Reba, you are one busy lady.
With all this good help, we once again got in 4 rounds of shooting, and climaxed the evening with our sudden death finale.  To everyone who contributed to the match operations tonight, THANK YOU!!
At the end of the evening, our large entry of 37 guns boiled down to just a few.  In the Draw Class, Mike Burt, Dan Leiskau, Mark Wuesthoff were still contending.  The final actions saw Dan dueling with Mark, with Dan winning, exit our 3rd place Draw Class finisher, Mark Wuesthoff.  Now it's between Mike Burt & Dan Leiskau.  Dan steps to the line with 1 number, and Mike steps up with 2.  On the first duel, Mike does it all right, wins the duel, and advances to the Top Gun Final.
In the Stock Class, The 3 Finalists are Lee Lewis, Leon Potter, and Leon's son,
Rob Potter.  3 Stock Finalists, and 3 NightHawk 1911s.  Rob & Lee start the duels, with
both using the Handicap plate rack, the challenge being 5-2-1.  Rob & Lee get the range commands, the *TONE* and immediately go LONG, the theory being that after engaging the 20yd Plates, the 10yd plates will seem easier, and therefore faster.  Rob & Lee drop the 2 Handicap Plates, drop down to the 10yd plates, and drop them, then go for the poppers,
hoping theirs will land first and be underneath the other one.  Tonight, Rob had it all together, and his NightHawk pounced!!  Rob's popper fell first, and Rob wins the duel, exit Lee Lewis, 3rd place in Draw tonight.  Now it's son Rob dueling with Father Leon.   Rob goes long, while Leon plays it safe and precise.  This time being conservative pays off as he drops his popper first and advances to the Top Gun Final.
So it's Mike Burt vs. Leon Potter for the TOP GUN Honors tonight.  Mike Burt has been fast!! all night, but his accuracy has been sporadic.  Leon, while not as fast as Mike, has been steady, accurate, and consistent.  After 37 guns signed up for this match, an evening of fast, accurate shooting, challenges, variety and demonstrated skill, it boils down to 2 guns with divergent approaches to the sport, ready to do 1 run for the title.  Mike has won the Draw Class, and elects to Draw for this duel, while Leon elects to be conservative, and will go from the low ready,  Shooters, load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the *TONE* Mike goes long.  No preliminary challenges were made or accepted, so both shooters pick their plates and do their thing.  Mike runs the 20 yd plate,
then drops all the 10yd plates, but just before he engages the popper, Leon drops his for the TOP GUN WIN!!!!  Leon Potter wins the duel, The Draw Class, and the title of
TOP GUN of Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club This week.  Congratulations, Leon Potter!
Well folks, that's it for another week.  We'll see you right back here next week, when it will be February 2010, and Spring will be closer yet.  Until then, always remember:

SPEED IS FINE, BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!
See you all next week.

Line Marshalls - EJ Corich, Mark Wuesthoff, Lee Lewis with help from many

Weather & Temperature - Cool - 45 degrees, heavy overcast, threatening rain until the match started, then so did a light rain.

Match Notes:  Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club for this week's plate match.  Our Co-Match Director, Rebecca Potter had the show to handle by herself tonight, as husband Rob was in Las Vegas, Nevada at the 2010 ShotShow.  As is typical at our matches however, Reba had a lot of help, and thanks to all who stepped in when needed and helped things go smoothly.
We had a new high match entry tonight, as 42 guns turned out.  Even in a Western Washington Winter our stalwart plate shooters braved the elements, and a good time was had by all.  Between the quality of the competition, the hot shooting & 3 heaters Roaring, we were all warm, comfortable & dry thanks to a great range building.  We even had some new brass collectors to help in the collection of brass, and when properly applied they picked up the brass quickly, easily and with no dust.
Along with the host club and it's great facilities, and our Match Director, Reba Potter,
we all owe thanks to our Scorekeeper Reba, with help from Michelle Makinson along with a Cameo by James Austin.
Our Line Marshalls tonight were EJ Corich, Mark Wuesthoff, Lee Lewis, and a cast of many who stepped in to help when needed.  Thanks to all of you.  Even with our wonderfully large entry list, the match proceeded smoothly & efficiently, giving us 3 rounds
of regular shooting and a Sudden Death Finale.

The Match:

At the end of the regular competition we had 3 shooters contending in Stock, and 3 in Draw.  Stock First:
James Austin, Travis Whitworth, & Mike Burt were left contending for the Stock Class honors at the end of the night tonight.  In the Final 3 we start with Mike Burt dueling with James Austin.  You know the range commands, and on the *TONE* James & Mike go for it!!  It's close, but James Austin pulls this one out.  Exit Mike Burt.  Next up are James Austin & Travis Whitworth.  Again the range commands, the *TONE* and the thunder of mighty pistols.  The pressure is ON!  and that brings out the best in James Austin.  James
just edges out Travis for the Stock Class Win!!  And on to Draw Class.
In the Draw Class, Rebecca Potter, Mike Burt and Mark Wuesthoff are still contending.  We see the first duel between Mark Wuesthoff and Mike Burt.  We have the range commands, we have the *TONE* , the thunder of revolvers & pistols, the clatter of plates, and Mike Burt takes this duel.  Exit Mark Wuesthoff, 3rd Draw tonight.
Now for the top honors, it's Rebecca Potter dueling with Mike Burt.  We have the guns loaded and holstered, hands raised in the surrender position, we have *TONE* and the thunder of dueling pistols.  When the noise subsides, the smoke clears, and silence returns, we have a winner in the Draw Class, and it it Mike Burt.  And now on to TOP GUN.
After a night of heated competition, it comes down to a duel for all the marbles, from the low ready position, between James Austin & Mike Burt for the title of TOP GUN.
James & Mike are ready, the guns are loaded and staged, here comes the *TONE*, there go the plates, and James & Mike throw caution to the wind.  The challenge apparently has been 5-2-& 1.  They will knock down all 5 10yd plates, 2 20yd plates and their popper.
It's a long string of fire, a reload, and more fire.  Plates fall close, plates fall further away, and 2 poppers fall, with James Austin's popper resting tightly against the ground, and Mike Burt's laying atop James'.  Duel to James Austin, TOP GUN HONORS to James Austin, and one whole week to bask in the thrill of victory.  Enjoy it while you can James, because next week there will be a large group of plate shooters looking to even the score.

Final Notes:  So there you have it folks.  We'll see you all right here next week to try to de-throne James and enjoy a week basking in the glory of victory.  We still have another few weeks of winter weather, but just visualize how nice it is going to be next summer.  We'll see you all right here next week, and in the meantime remember:

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  SPEED IS FINE, BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!

                  3rd Stock - James Austin

9 Draw - Class won by Rebecca Potter

             TOP GUN --- PHILLIP GRAVER

Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club sports fans. It's our weekly Heavy Metal Plate Match, and we have new shooters, new targets, old protocols, and new challenges. As our match started tonight, so did the rain. Briefly starting off as a mere drizzle, by the time we were into Round 1, it was Drumming down, the temperature was 50 degrees, with a brisk wind.

Hey, we don't care. The range building was tight, the doors were closed, and all 3 heaters were cooking!!

Let's begin the thanks by saying Hi, Welcome and THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE to Seth Froyum, Dan & Angela Rowe, and Phillip Graver. They are proudly serving their country. Angela, Dan, Seth and Phillip, we are all proud of you and wish you a safe voyage.

Remember Sailors, The Navy isn't a job, it's an adventure!!

Thanks also to our Match Directors, Rebecca & Rob Potter. Thanks to our Line Marshalls, Rob Potter & Mark Wuesthoff. And of course, thanks to our velvet tongued D.J. & Scorekeeper, Rebecca Potter.

We had a new feature tonight, overlapping poppers that left no doubt whatever who won close duels. Many thanks to Earl Jull for fabricating and making functional our overlapping poppers. Acting as stop plates, irregardless of which plate rack one chooses to engage, whether it be one of the 10yd racks, or the 20yd handicap rack, before the duel was done, it was required to engage whichever of the two poppers was closest to your plate rack, and knock it down. When they both fell, one popper would fall before the other and therefore be on the bottom. No matter the caliber, price or beauty of the gun used to accomplish the task, whichever plate was on the bottom when judgment day came, that was the one that won. End of duel.

One of many really significant factors of Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Clubs plate matches is variety, fresh challenges, and versatility.

The challenges can change with each dual, and complacency is just not possible. Earl Jull, thank you for your good work.

We started the match tonight with 31 guns. After an evening of challenges, victories and losses, and another in a life-long series of lessons on mastering the handgun, we are left with 3 contenders in our Stock Class, and in our Draw Class.

Let's look at the Stock Class 1st.

Stock Class - our 3 shooters still contending are: James Austin, Rob Potter, and our young Sailor, Phillip Graver.

To start the final finals, Phillip draws James Austin. Shooters, Load & Make Ready, Shooters Ready? Stand By!!

At the *TONE* they engage the plates, the thunder rolls, and Phillip graver takes the duel, exit James Austin, 3rd Stock tonight. Now it's Phillip with 3 numbers vs. Rob with 1. Again the range commands, again the *TONE* and again the rattle of plates and the rolling of Thunder. Rob's Nighthawk dives, attacks, and wins this duel. Now it's Phillip 2 to Rob 1. AGAIN!!

The range commands are given, the guns are ready, the *TONE*, falling plates rattle, THUNDER ROLLS, quiet returns, and folks, we have a winner in the Stock Class, and it is Phillip Graver. Phillip, who needs FA-18s on your Aircraft Carrier? The Navy can put you up on the bow of the ship with your Springfield XDM, and you can win the war all by yourself. Well Done Sailor!!

In the Draw Class, we are left with 3 Shooters: Rebecca Potter, EJ Corich, and Rob Potter. We start the duals with Rebecca Potter and EJ Corich. The guns are loaded and holstered, the shooters arms are up in the surrender position, the *TONE* sounds!! the 1911s are drawn, the plates are engaged, and the thunder rolls!!. As the rattle of plates subsides, and the dust settles, out of the Fog of War emerges the winner of the dual, Rebecca Potter. Exit EJ. EJ, don't feel too bad, a lot of people had that experience tonight!!.

Now it between Rob Potter & Rebecca Potter, in a dual of NightHawks. Rebecca is feeling a bit saucy after her victory over EJ, and shouts out a challenge to her husband ROB: 5 - 2 - 1 Rob. This means that to win the dual, one of them must clean off the 10yd rack, drop 2 plates on the 20yd rack, and then drop their popper, All before the other shooter does likewise.

Rob looks at Reba uncertainly, but accepts the challenge!! The Guns are loaded and holstered. Hands are raised in the surrender position, eyes focused on the job at hand, the *TONE* sounds, the racks are engaged, both Rob & Reba make fast reloads to complete the job, Rob & Reba drop to the poppers, and REBA'S popper drops 1st. It was a close duel, but the poppers do not Lie!! Reba's plate bit the dust first, with Rob's plate landing on top. NO DOUBT!! Rebecca Potter wins the dual, and the Draw Class victory. And now it's on to TOP GUN!!

This weeks TOP GUN Dual is between our young, but intrepid Sailor, Phillip Graver, and our Match Co-Director and DJ Rebecca Potter. OK Ladies and Gentlemen, this one is from the Low Ready, 1 run for all the marbles, so SHOOTERS, LOAD & MAKE READY!!

SHOOTERS READY? STAND BY!! Reba's 1911 NightHawk & Phillip's Springfield XDM wait for the *TONE! Come up & engage the plates, Thunder Rolls. plates rattle & fall, and we have a WINNER!! PHILLIP GRAVER WINS!! IN A CLOSE DUAL, DECIDED BY THE THINNEST OF MARGINS BY THE BOTTOM OF THE TWO POPPERS LYING TIGHTLY AGAINST THE GROUND!!. Well Done, Phillip. We will expect to see you Sailors back here in a month, and as often as possible thereafter. No pressure Sailors, but you are Engineers. If the ship stops in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, just remember:

IT'S YOUR FAULT!!

So that's the way things developed at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club tonight. The rain has stopped, it feels warmer, and it should be a very pleasant drive home. SAILORS, We'll see you in a month.

Everyone else, we'll see you next week. In the meantime always remember:

SHOOT FAST!! SHOOT ACCURATELY!! BUT MOST MPORTANTLY, SHOOT SAFELY!!

Hal

36 Guns Entered

27 in Stock Class - Class won by Rob Potter

9 in Draw Class - Class won by Rebecca Potter

        TOP GUN - REBECCA POTTER

Welcome to the New Year, Plate Shooters.  The year started off much warmer than we have been used to, and no rain in the air tonight.  The temperatures stayed at 45degrees, and with the 3 heaters roaring, it felt almost like summer in the range.  We had a new feature in our match tonight.  In addition to the regular plate racks placed at 10 yds, we had a 3rd rack centered in the middle of the other 2, but at a much more challenging 20 yards.  Call this one a handicap rack.  If a shooter was called to duel with another shooter whom shooter #1 felt confident in defeatng, he is honor-bound to shoot at the more distant rack to even the odds.
Or, if 2 shooters come to the line to duel, and they feel they are roughly equal in skill, one may challenge the other to clear their own plates at 10 yds, and then drop a plate or 2 at 20 yds.  For example, when the shooters are called to duel, one will say to the other loudly enough for all to hear, (whoever) 5 + 1.  Then everyone knows that in order to win the duel, you must drop 5 plates at 10yds, and 1 at 20yds before your opponent does likewise.  These challenges are varied and spontaneous, adding unending variety to the duels. This match started off fun and challenging, and it just got moreso.  Rob & Reba, you're going to have to concentrate to come up with a twist better than this.
Speaking of our Match Directors, Rob & Rebecca Potter, thanks to them for hosting and directing our match tonight.  Thanks go also to our Line Marshalls, Rob Potter and Mark Wuesthoff, plus all the other competitors who stepped in to lend a hand when needed.  An of course, a special thanks to our DJ, Rebecca Potter, for keeping score, calling and processing the duels, and keeping everyone informed about what was going on.
By virtue of our Match Staff, and everyone helping when necessary, we got in our usual 4 rounds of Stock, 4 rounds of Draw, and our Sudden Death Finale, and it wasn't even daylight yet.  Well done folks.  This was a great way to start the year, and with such a productive, enthusiastic and talented crew to run our plate matches, we can look forward to great matches all year long.
We started out with no fewer than 36 Guns entered tonight.  At the end of  the evening we had 3 guns left in the Stock Class, and the Draw Class, all warmed up and ready to shoot off for the honor of TOP GUN.  Let's look at the Draw Class first.
Our 3 contending entrants are: Rob Potter, Rebecca Potter, and James Austin.  Rob & Reba draw the duel, and this is where the 3rd plate rack comes into play.  Rob felt he was faster than Reba, so while Reba engaged the 10yd rack, Rob challenged the 20yd one.  Do ya feel lucky, Rob?  Well, Do ya?  Shooters Load and Make Ready.  Shooters Ready?  Stand by!  At the TONE!! Rob & Reba engage their respective racks, fire and brimstone permeate the air, plates fall, and when silence returns to the range. Reba has a fast, accurate victory firmly in her pocket.  Exit Rob, our 3rd Place Draw Class winner tonight.  So now it's Reba and James Austin to duel for the class win.  Reba has 2 numbers to James' 3.  Now it's James who picks the 20yd rack, and Reba stays with the 10yd rack.  They are set, TONE!!! bullets fly, plates fall and this one goes to Reba. James & Reba are now tied at 2.  AGAIN!!
The shooters are ready, arms raised in the surrender position, the TONE!! The shooters engage the plates, and this duel goes to James.  Now Reba has 1, and James has 2.  AGAIN.  James & Reba are ready, the TONE!! sounds, the plates rattle, and this duel goes to Reba.  Even though James is shooting at the 20yd rack, the duels are close!!  Now James & Reba are tied at 1, and the next duel will decide the Draw Class.  Shooters Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the TONE!! Reba & James engage, and in a whirlwind of fury Reba Potter pulls out a close one.  Reba Potter advances to the TOP GUN Final.
In our Stock Class we have 3 shooters vying for the win.  Rob Potter, Mick Burt, & Lee Lewis.  Mike Burt & Lee Lewis are 1st up.  Mike decides to go to the 20yd rack, leaving Lee the "easy" 10yd one.  Shooters Load & Make Ready!  Shooters Ready?  Stand by!!  TONE!! Lee & Mike engage, Mike's plates fall like Dominoes, one of Lee's plates falls, the others stand resolutely challenging him.  Eyes turn to Lee, who is frantically trying to clear a jam in his handgun.  Too late now, Lee. Sorry No alibi runs in action shooting.  Exit lee Lewis, 3rd place tonight, which is not bad at all out of a field of 27 guns.  Now it's Rob Potter with 1 number shooting against Mike Burt with 2 numbers for the Stock Class honors to start the year.  Rob & Mike are ready!!  The TONE!! sounds, Rob & Mike hammer the plates, and Rob wins this duel, but barely.
So now, Rob & Mike both have 1 number, they set up, the TONE!! sounds, the plates rattle & fall, the smoke clears, the thunder ebbs, and it is Rob Potter with the win!!  And on to TOP GUN!!
So it's "Family Fued" time!!  Rob & Rebecca Potter are our contestants, and they approach the firing line, both with a bit of a strut!!  Husband Rob feels lucky, and chooses the 20yd rack.  Wife Reba contents herself with the 10yd one.  1 run for all the marbles!!  From the low ready, they are loaded, ready and waiting for the TONE!!  When it sounds Rob & Reba engage their respective plate racks, and the thunder rolls.  2 NightHawks POUNCE!!  Rob's Nighthawk just has 10 yds further to pounce, and this time, on this night, the extra distance is insurmountable.  Rebecca Potter is tonight's TOP GUN, and the 1st one of 2010 at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club.  Well folks, you know the tradition.  LADIES FIRST!!  Rebecca, sleep well this week, there are 34 other guns that will try and remove you from your throne next week. So until next week folks, always remember:

SPEED IS FINE!! BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!

Happy New Year everyone!  Well, in a couple of days anyway.  Tonight, Dec. 29, 2009 sees the final plate match for 2009.  Next Tuesday starts another year of plate shootng, and we'll look for all of you each week during the year.  This year ended with cold 36 degree temperatures, a light rain that looked like it was going to start off as snow, but didn't.  The start of the match and the start of the light rain came at the same time, and as it started, the drops may have been clear, but they were sure coming down slowly.
Nevertheless, 32 guns braved the winter weather, came out to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club, and between all 3 heaters, and Hot shooting, our field of entries defied the elements very successfully.
We had a treat tonight as Mike Burt was able to join us for a night of action shooting.  As you may remember, Mike left for the Sandbox very recently as a civilian contractor, and found himself back here, assigned TDY over the holidays enroute to a Gunnery School in Tennessee where he will start the New Year.  Mike took advantage of the opportunity to attend our plate match tonight, and since he was here anyway, he won the Stock Class.  Mike, did you say you were going to the Gunnery School as a student or as an Instructor?  The way you shot tonight, a lot of people could learn quite a bit from you.
Another point of note tonight was the attendance of Nathan Lively, the grandson of Richard Lively, one of our regular plates shooters and an accomplished IPSC competitor.  Apparently Richard has been tutoring Nathan correctly and extensively, because for a first plate match, Nathan demonstrated quite clearly that he knew what he was about.  Folks, I didn't know that the ability to handle a handgun so effectively was genetic.  Welcome Nathan.  Nathan is enroute to Ft Bragg, N.C. for Ranger training.
We all owe many thanks to our Match Staff consisting of our Match Directors, Rob & Rebecca Potter, our Line Marshalls: Rob Potter, Mark Wuesthoff and James Austin, and our Scorekeeper and DJ Rebecca Potter.  With the dedication and expertise of these folks, we got in our 4 rounds of Stock, 4 rounds of Draw, and our Sudden Death Finale.  Many thanks to our Match Staff.
     Our Stock Class tonight consisted of 23 entries, and at the end of the Sudden Death Finale the number was reduced to 3;
Mike Burt, Rob Potter, and EJ Corich.  EJ dueled with Mike, but Mike won that one, exit EJ.  Then it was between Rob Potter and Mike Burt for the class win.  Rob started the finals with 3 numbers to Mike's 2.  Mike & Rob set up, engaged, and dueled!
1st run to Mike. Now it's Mike with 2, Rob with 2.  Next duel to Mike also.  Now it's Mike with 2 to Rob's 1.  Again!!   Load and Make Ready!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  At the Tone!! Rob & Mike engage the plates, and this time it's Rob with the win.
AGAIN!!  The Shooters Set Up, and TONE!!  Rob and Mike engage the plates in a hail of lead, smoke and noise, and we have a winner!!  Mike Burt wins the duel, the Stock Class and the ooohs & aahhhhs of an appreciative gallery.  Well done Mike.  Maybe you should tell everyone about tonight's win in Gunnery School in Tennessee.
In the Draw Class the 9 entries boil down to 3: Mark Wuesthoff, Rebecca Potter & James Austin.  To start this set of duels,
It's between Rebecca Potter & Mark Wuesthoff.  Reba has 3 numbers to Mark's 1, and they set up to duel.  Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand by!!  At the TONE!! Rebecca & Mark draw, engage the plates and Fire!!.  Not tonight Mark.
Reba takes this duel and advances into the final finals against James Austin.
Reba and James both have 3 numbers, and they load, make ready, holster and at the Tone!! they duel!!  They both are fast and accurate, but James wins this one.  They set up again with James still having his 3 numbers, but Reba now has 2.
Again they set up, guns holstered, hands & arms in the surrender position, the tone!! sounds, they duel, and again it's James getting there 1st.  Only 1 number left Reba, better make this a good one.  They set up, the tone!! sounds, and we have a winner!!
James Austin, this is just your night!!  Ya'know James, sometimes I don't think you could get through the day without being under a lot of pressure all the time.  You certainly do perk up!! in the face of tough competition!!  Well done James, our Draw Class winner!!
Now it's between Mike Burt & James Austin for our TOP GUN Title tonight.  It's Mike from our Stock Class, & James Austin from the Draw Class.  Both shooters will engage the plates from the Low Ready Stock Class position.  One run, winner take all!  Shooters Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready? Stand by!!  the TONE!! sounds, the shooters engage the plates fast & accurately, and folks, it is close!!!  The pressure was ON!! & James Austin rises to meet it again.  The TOP GUN for the final Kitsap R&R Plate Match of 2009 is James Austin.
That's the 2009 Plate Match Season at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club Folks.  We start the 2010 season right here next week on Tuesday evening at 6PM.  Until then remember:

SPEED IS FINE!!  BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!

SEE YOU ALL RIGHT HERE NEXT YEAR!!

Ho Ho HO!! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.  Welcome back to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club for our weekly Plate Match.
Christmas is upon us for another year, but first we'll take an evening out of this busy week for another plate match.  It's December in WASHINGTON STATE, and therefore it's cold and overcast.  Could be worse, could be snowing.  We are enjoying the fact that tonight, with temperatures in the upper 30s, it's not even raining.
29 Guns entered the match tonight, 20 in the Stock Class,  and 9 in the Draw Class.  Our match was run with it's usual super efficiency, and we got in our 4 rounds in Stock and 4 in Draw.  At the conclusion of these classes, we had our Sudden Death Finale.  As usual, we owe the smooth efficiency of our match to our Match Staff, comprised of our Match Directors - Rob & Rebecca Potter. to our Scorekeeper and DJ, Rebecca Potter, and our Line Marshalls, Rob Potter, James Austin, Mark Wuesthoff, and Lee Lewis.  Folks, this match runs like a well oiled Machine, and WE LOVE IT!!
29 guns, divided into 2 classes, entered the fray tonight, and after heated competition we are approaching the end of our Sudden Death Finale.  In the Draw Class we have Rob Potter, James Austin and Rebecca (Reba) Potter still contesting the win.  Rob & James come to the line for a duel, the guns are loaded and holstered, the range commands are spoken, the tone sounds, and James Austin wins this duel, exit Rob.  Now it Reba & James dueling, each with 2 numbers. Again the guns are loaded and holstered, the surrender position is taken, the range commands are spoken, the tone sounds and the plates are engaged!!!  James wins this duel and they do it again, this time with James still having his 2 numbers and Reba having 1.
At the tone, they draw, they engage, they hammer the plates, and again James arrives at the finish line 1st.  James Austin wins the Draw Class.
In the Stock Class, we have Rob dueling with Lee.  Folks, it's close, but Rob gets there first and wins this duel.  Now it's Richard & EJ dueling.  At the horn we have another close duel, with EJ edging out Richard.  EJ & Reba are up now, and EJ continues his winning ways by getting by Reba.  That's not an easy accomplishment tonight either.
Folks, we are getting down to it.  We have 4 shooters remaining, Rob & Rebecca Potter, Richard Lively, and EJ.
Richard and EJ duel, with Richard putting paid! to EJ's evening.  Exit EJ.  Rob & Reba then have a family feud, with Rob winning this one.  How often does that happen at home, Rob?  Exit Reba, our 3rd place Stock Gun shooter tonight.  Well done, Reba!!
To continue, Richard Lively with 1 number and Rob Potter with 2 numbers duel,   with Rob getting there first.  And folks, that leaves Rob Potter our Stock Class winner tonight.  Now it's time to find out who is our TOP GUN for December 22, 2009.  After a night of cold temperatures & HOT SHOOTING, It is down to 2 guns, Rob Potter & James Austin.  Shooters, Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  We have a TONE!! Rob & James hammer the plates, the gunfire ebbs, the range falls silent, the smoke settles, and JAMES AUSTIN is TOP GUN tonight!!  Well done James, and well done to the entire field.  We'll see you right here next Tuesday, December 28th, 2009 and we'll play this game again.  And this Holiday Season, have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS,  AND A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

10 Draw - Class won by Rob Potter

Welcome to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club's weekly Plate Match. It was a whole lot warmer this week than last, with the temperature actually approaching 50 degrees.  It was, of course, pouring down rain most of the evening, what with it being Western Washington in December, but we were in a warm, well heated range building; watertight and well lit.  It doesn't get much better than this.
Thanks to those who brought us our plate match tonight.  Thanks to our Match Director, Rob Potter, for hosting us tonight.  Thanks to Mark Wuesthoff, James Austin & Rob Potter for taking turns as Line Marshalls, keeping the action turning.  And a Special THANKS to Rob's lovely and talented wife, Rebecca for running the whole show.  Rebecca (Reba) Potter not only runs the microphone, the scoreboard, pairs up & calls the duels,  but also shoots her own Nighthawk very, very effectively.  Reba shot her Nighthawk well enough tonight to place 3rd in Stock out of 24 guns entered in that class.  Reba, each & every one of us plate match shooters owes you a debt of gratitude.  The one word that describes Reba on Tuesday evening is "Busy"!!  Just watching you run that table and scoreboard makes me tired.  But each and every one of us guys that shoots sure does enjoy listening to your velvet voice call the duels.  Reba, Thank You.
With the plate match staff running the show so efficiently, we got in our standard 4 rounds of Stock, 4 rounds of Draw, and our Sudden Death Finale.  As mentioned, we had 34 guns entered tonight, and at the end of the Sudden Death we had 2 very familiar names left to contend for the honors.  In both the Draw Class & the Stock Class the hot guns for the evening were Rob Potter and James Austin.  So, lets see how this develops.
Draw Class First.  The shootoffs started with James & Rob both having 3 numbers on the board.  Rob was shooting his NightHawk 1911, and James was shooting his Smith & Wesson Revolver.  For the 1st duel, James & Rob Load & Make Ready!  They are ready & TONE!!  1ST STRING TO Rob.  Again they are ready, the range commands are given, the TONE!!
and this string goes to James.  James & Rob are once again ready, the range commands are given again, TONE!!  and this seesaw duel goes to Rob.  At this point Rob & James are even at 2.  Shooters to the Line!  Load & Make Ready!  Shooters Ready? Stand by!!  At the TONE!! Rob & James again hammer the plates, and once again Rob arrives at the finish line 1st.
Rob now has 2 numbers, and James now has 1.  Rob & James both look pensive and ready for action.  Load & Make Ready!!
Shooters Ready?  Stand by!  TONE!!  James & Rob attack the plates!!  The THUNDER ebbs away, the dust settles, quiet descends on the range and suddenly a course of cheers & applause erupts.  By the narrowest of margins Rob Potter has edged out James for the Draw Class Victory.  And on to Stock.
After the intensity of the Draw Class, it is going to be a challenge to make the Stock Class compare.  The same two rivals are dueling for this class as did in the Draw Class.  In these classes tonight, the stars of the show are certainly Rob Potter & James Austin.  This is developing into a type of Civil War.  NightHawk Custom Guns is located deep in the South, in Berryville, AR.
Smith & Wesson is located "way up North" in Springfield, Massachusetts.  So let's see how the Blue & Grey do tonight.
To start this series of duels, Rob Potter has 3 numbers, and James Austin has 2.  The range commands ring out!!
Load & Make Ready!!  Shooters Ready?  Stand By!!  TONE!! Noise, Smoke, the rattle of falling plates, and folks, Rob Potter wins this string.  Now Rob has 3 numbers to James' 1.  AGAIN!!
Load & Makes Ready!! Shooters ready?  Stand By!!  TONE!!  Again James & Rob engage.  Again there is noise, smoke, and the rattle of falling plates!  And Folks, We have a Winner!!  Rob Potter, this is just YOUR NIGHT!! Rob wins the string, the class, and the WHOLE SHOOTIN' MATCH!!  Rob & Reba had their NightHawks circling, circling, diving and attacking tonight.  James, take heart.  32 other guns had the same problem tonight.  The only difference was that in addition to dueling with Rob, they also had to duel with You, James.  Rob, I can't say I envy you next week, what with James thinking about this match all week.  Folks, be sure and be right here next Tuesday evening at 6PM, and we'll see if the North will rise again?  See you then.

     25 Guns Entered

18 in Stock - Class won by Terry Field
Overall Match winner - James Austin
7 in Draw - Class won by James Austin

Welcome to Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club for our weekly plate match Ladies & Gentlemen.  It is a clear evening, the wind is still, and the temperature is a balmy 16 Degrees.  It takes a lot more than a bit of cold weather to keep real plate shooters in on Tuesday night.  When not shooting, we were all hovered around the propane heaters tonight, and mighty thankful for them.
Many thanks go to those that made the frigid trek to the range worthwhile.  Thanks to our Match Director, Rob Potter, for
hosting our soiree.  Thanks to Rebecca Potter and Michelle Makinson for running the scoreboard and calling the duels.  Thanks to Rob Potter, Lee Lewis & James Austin for running the firing line so efficiently.  Folks, for anyone who thinks these jobs are easy, or boring, please feel free to get in touch with any of these ladies & gentlemen and I'm sure they will let you help run the show one evening.  After just one evening of putting a quality match such as ours together,  I'm sure you'll agree the task is challenging indeed.  With the hard work and diligence of our match staff, we got in 4 Rounds of shooting tonight, and a Sudden Death Finale
At the end of the Sudden Death Finale we have 4 finalists still standing.  In the Draw Class, James Austin & EJ are set to duel. (EJ, I'd be willing to bet you have a whole name, but I've never heard anyone use it, so until I hear more, EJ will have to suffice).  In the Stock Class, Mark Wuesthoff & Terry Field have outgunned the all the others.  Let's do the Draw Class first.
EJ & James Austin:  LOAD & MAKE READY!!  SHOOTERS READY?  STAND BY!!  At the start tone, EJ & James move from the surrender position, draw, and engage the plates.  Now EJ, you shot well tonight; fast & accurately.  James Austin shot well too, and James just lives for high pressure situations, and worthy challenges.  At the end of a fast, clean string of fire James Austin comes away with the win.  Take heart EJ, a lot of people have that problem.
In the Stock Class, Mark Wuesthoff & Terry Field are ready to go. Terry has 3 numbers, to Mark's 1.  Terry & Mark:  LOAD & MAKE READY!!  SHOOTERS READY?  STAND BY!!  At the tone, Mark & Terry engage, run the plates, and Mark gets there first.  Now Terry has 2 numbers, to Mark's 1.  Let's try this again.  Terry & Mark are ready, the range commands are given, the tone sounds and they engage!! This time Terry Field arrives 1st, and emerges the winner of the Stock Class.
Now we're gonna do a duel for the overall match win.  25 guns entered tonight, 25 guns braved the 16 degree temperature, shot fast and accurately,  and it has come down to 2 shooters:  James Austin & Terry Field.
LOAD AND MAKE READY!!  SHOOTERS READY?  STAND BY!!  For all the marbles James & Terry engage the plates.  When the guns fall silent, and the dust settles, it's James Austin who arrived first, taking the string, the class & the match.
James, the prize automobiles, the large cash prizes and the Hollywood contracts were all last year, but this year, and this week, you'll have undisputed bragging rights to tell anyone you can get to listen, that you are the fastest gun at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club tonight.  Congratulations!
So that's it for another week folks.  Let's hope it's warmer next week, and I can guarantee the shooting will be just as hot. Dress warmly, bring your pet pistol "Fluffy", and we'll meet right here at 6PM next Tuesday, December 15, 2009, and we'll test our skill again.  See you then.

25 Guns Entered - Overall Match winner - Mark Wuesthoff

18 Stock Entries - Class won by Mark Wuesthoff

7 Draw Entries - Class won by James Austin

Well, Good evening Sports Fans.  Here we are at Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club for our weekly falling plate match.  It's a very cool, clear evening, and a wonderful segue into December.  The temperature was down into the 40s, the heaters were on and roaring, and between the competition and the heaters, the ambient air temperature was very comfortable indeed, thank you.
Many thanks to our Match Director, Rob Potter for hosting the match.  Many thanks to our velvet tongued D.J. Michelle Makinson for handling the scoreboard, the microphone, and the all-important task of pairing up the shooters to engage in the duels.  Michelle, I believe you have a long-term job at this match.  Well, no surprise.  You learned from the best!  Thanks to Rob Potter, Mark Wuesthoff, and James Austin for taking turns as Line Marshalls tonight.  With this team in place we got in 4 rounds of shooting, a Sudden Death Finale, and still were able to get home before daylight.  I bet everyone at the match sleeps well tonight.
A quick introductory review is in order for those not able to attend the match, but availing themselves of the opportunity to read this report.  Our match at Kitsap R&P starts at 6PM, and the world is invited.  One can enter up to 2 guns per class, the classes being Stock and Draw.  The entry fee is $5.00 per gun, and for the price of entering the match they are afforded the opportunity to shoot all phases of the match.  The first class to duel is the Stock Class.  All the shooters entered in Stock have their numbers thrown in a bucket and shaken up, drawn out and laid down.  The numbers are paired up and then everyone knows against who they will duel.  After everyone duels, the winners of the duels shoot off against each other and the numbers of the winners of those duels are put on the scoreboard.
Next it's the Draw Class.  The shooters paired up are called to the line, told to "Load and make ready",  and when loaded are called to the "Ready" at which time they assume the "Surrender Position", both hands raised head high.  At the starter tone, they draw their handguns, being very car
